Background Timeline:
Grew up working on grandfather's tree farm, was strong and fit, but never played sports or worked out.
7th Grade: Took up rec football, was decent, but didn't excel. Wrestled one year, won the state junior high champ, and never wrestled again. 103 Pounds. Maxed at 200 pushups, 1200 situps, and 1500 jumping jacks continuous. Ran a 6:00 PE mile.
8th Grade: Took up basketball and lifting. Weighed 120 pounds at 5'6". Ran MS track (13.0 100m) and a 5:40 PE mile.
9th: 140 pounds. Played JV B-Ball. Ran a FAT 12.0 100m off of pretty much ZERO training.
10th: 145 lbs. Played JV B-ball.
11th: 5'9". 145. Sat on varsity bench. Ran a 4:51 and 10:50 at HS track meets off of basketball training.
12th: Got sick. Lost 40 pounds. Became reclusive. The more people acted like I did it purposefully, the more chagrin I had about regaining. Developed some serious body issues.
College: Spent the last 3 yrs slogging and being underweight and depressed. 28:00 8k road race. Can barely break 15s for 100m from standing.
Was I fast twitch to start with? Or just not meant to be a runner? Would I ever be able to get back the speed if I trained correctly?
