Galen has better speed and still cannot run faster than Ritz at 5000m. Ritz could have run faster than his 27:22 pb, as it was in a championship meet. There is no reason to expect that Galen will be better at the marathon than Ritz.

It just depends. If he uses enough thyroid hormone I'm sure he can get it done.

And there you have it, post of the year. Letsrun community "Just take more thyroid meds"
http://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/overactive-thyroid-hyperthyroidism?page=2From page 1:"Thyroid medications. Taking too much thyroid hormone medication can wreak havoc on your thyroid gland and cause hyperthyroidism. If you have been prescribed thyroid replacement hormone (for hypothyroidism), never take an extra dose, even if you missed one, without first talking to your doctor."
Yes taking more thyroid meds is the answer at all times...
-Difficulty Sleeping
-Rapid Heart Beat
-Arrhythmia
-Weight Loss
-Muscle Weakness(*Especially in Thighs*)
That sounds like the perfect combo to break American Records with.

All trolling aside, I never knew this.
I hope Rupp is clean, but I do wonder why he was diagnosed with hypothyroidism when Steve Magness, a real hypothyroid, has explained that anyone with hypothyroidism, even while taking medication, is horribly inconsistent, both in races and practices. Rupp isn't inconsistent, and he has indeed been diagnosed as hypothyroid by Dr. Brown (Nike Endocrinologist).
The info you provided makes sense. Why would he take extra thyroid hormone? I don't know why, but he is.
Rupp is a better runner and he's more durable.

So genius why hasn't he run faster at 5000m yet?

Psst... don't tell anyone, but there is also the yet-to-be-banned Xenon gas that stimulates natural EPO production. The Xenon gas can be used to enhance the breathing atmosphere for those who sleep in altitude tents.
At first I thought you were trolling me, but...

It actually makes a lot of sense.

Because he hasn't run faster yet...? Was that a trick question?
Not trolling. Xenon gas and EPO is the real deal.

I think what he meant by "more durable" is that Rupp has proven he can run faster than Ritz at the longer distance of 10k.
ritz ran sub-13 ONCE. his 2nd best race was 13:09 in 2013.
rupp has run within a couple seconds of 13:00 multiple times and obviously that 13:01 indoors this year.
rupp has run 30 SECONDS faster than ritz over 10k. nobody has come within 10 seconds of rupp's 10k AR.
rupp has run 60:30 in his only half marathon, in NYC, with a fall. ritz has run 4+ halves, with a best of 60 flat.
i'm not even a rupp fan-boy, i just think there's no evidence saying that rupp won't be as good as dathan at the marathon. i'm not saying he 100% will do better, but there's no way you can argue that he can't.

Looks like WADA is screwing up again.

The fact that Galen has often run around 13 minutes tells me that he is up against his ceiling. How could he not have run faster than Ritz by now if he was ever going to? It doesn't make any sense.

No, I mean that Rupp can run a lot without pieces of his body breaking off.
He WAS.
Rupp does not currently have any TUEs
I know you're trolling, but, Ritz could never have run 26:48. So, Ritz has better speed (faster 5k) and Rupp has better endurance (faster 10k!). Obviously Rupp will be better at the marathon!!!
Of course Ritz could also run as fast as Galen over a mile and 3000 as well. He just doesn't want to.

Found this thread:
http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=5618154It seems like it would be pretty easy to lie about how many TUEs you have since no one would be able to disclose your info without your permission.
Of course, I guess at some point you have to either trust the person is telling the truth or remain skeptical. There really is no way to silence the skeptics 100%, but this discussion has made me a bit more enthusiastic/optimistic about Rupp.

The day Ritz ran 12:56 he could have broken 27 minutes.
