I think it's safe to say the Ashland distance squad had a pretty good night- 1:46, 4:07, 4:08, & 4:09. Trent Mack has his guys rolling!

Was Windle's previous pb really >1:48 outdoors? That's awesome - currently 7th fastest in the world for 2014 and basically the same time as Symmonds's indoor PR. He probably got some rage from rojo's comment in http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=5083012.
That coach is doing an amazing job at Ashland.

Wow! GVSU also looked impressive with 5 guys under 15:00 in the 5000m and another 5 under 15:15.
GVSU had 6 runners under 15 and another unattached FR also under 15. But GVSU had a good showing in the 800m also going 1:49, 1:50, 1:53.
But Windle's 1:46 and Ashland's performance in the mile definitely takes the cake at the Big Meet. Excellent depth at middle distance.
Gotta love those 300 meter indoor tracks!
What's your point? To run those times you have to be able to cover that distance in that time. They would be even faster still on those craaaazy 400m outdoor tracks.

No, indoors is often faster on the oversized tracks...conditions are better controller, no wind.

1:46 is great run. No one knew about him probably. What were the high school pr's?
Except that most people run faster during outdoor season... Sure, ifconditions are poor for an outdoor race it'll be slower. But on nice day with minimal wind 400m tracks are faster.
The only way indoors are faster is if the conditions are poor during an outdoor race. Bigger track, faster times. Notice how people run faster on 300m indoor tracks as opposed to 200m (flat) tracks? If they could transport every one from yesterday's races to a 400m track outside with fair weather the times would be faster.
Did not break 2 until his senior year. Exploded onto the scene to run 1:52 his senior year

He was sub 1:52 at state meet senior year. His current teammate, Baum, was in the same race at state meet and went sub 1:54.
Both have developed quite well while at AU but both are big talents who had plenty of room to improve in college. Many college teams have big talents, coach Mack at AU seems to keep them healthier and moving forward more than most other programs. From what I know, their training would shock most of the people in the distance world as it is much easier and slower than you would expect from athletes dropping that kind of time. As it stands, Windle has shown great improvement over last year, Baum is a bit slower at the moment than a year ago in the mile.
And meanwhile how many guys are sub 1:50 at OSU? Unbelievable that this kid is running at Ashland!

For the entire 2013 indoor season, the following were the fastest times by Americans on oversized indoor tracks"
Oversized Track:
1:46.53 Lopez Lomong (Nike) Husky Cl 02/09/13
1:46.73 Elijah Greer Mtn Pac 02/23/13
1:46.80 Tyler Mulder Husky Cl 02/09/13
1:47.09 Mark Wieczorek (Brk) Husky Cl 02/09/13
That's right, Windle's 1:46.52 is faster than any American ran on an oversized indoor last year. And look at the names he beat out on the same track.
It's a huge jump from 1:48.75 to 1:46.52, so can't really blame the skeptics from the previous thread. But time to take him seriously. He has the 400m speed to be legit.
Oklahoma State does not emphasize the 800, but has had success with the women. As a big time D1 coach, I know these things..

I honestly didn't read this post "douchey" at all. But I see how one could.I'm legitimately curious now. Coach d2, were you implying that his run really isn't that impressive because he ran on a nice track, or were you saying, "heck yeah, gotta love not running on shitty tracks so some fast times can be run!"
