quite a ways off brad barton's phenomenal race just last year for the 45+ indoor record:

still, always good to see guys like trautmann and nohilly still at it, and running fast...
Impressive.
Whiteman just ran a 1:50.92 indoor 800 age 42. What will he be running in 3 years in the 800 mile?
He will most likely go sub 1:50 this year outdoors. Wouldn't be surprised if he runs 3:49 1500 when he is 45.
48 in a couple of months.
Looking ahead two years to the AR 50 records
1500 4:10.07 (WR 4:09.98) Mile 4:26.75 AR& WR.
Pretty tough but possibly in his reach. Finding an indoor meet in late April probably tougher.
The best part was that he's wearing a cotton t-shirt from 1986 in that photo.
That is a t-shirt that New York runners had to wear in the state championships. Each section had a separate color. Don't forget Trautmann beat Kennedy at the 1992 Olympic Trials.
Age 45 - 4:24 mile at N.Balance Indoor
Trautmann had run a 4:22.12 a week or so ago. Great to see him running well again after those injury issues ended his career as an elite runner.
I come from John Trautmann's old stomping grounds (Orange County, NY), and despite being around cross country and track my entire life, I have never encountered anything as impressive as Trautmann's Bear Mountain course record. A lot of great runners have come through downstate NY, and his record is a complete obliteration of all comers. It was unfathomable for all of us clods struggling to break 16:00 on the course. That dude was a legend; I was heartbroken as a kid watching him have to pull off the track in the Olympics. It doesn't surprise me one bit that he still has the fire and talent to crank out a fast time after decades of retirement.
Good for him, glad he's still able to lace them up after his injury struggles.
8:44.7c for two mile in HS. decent.

14:24 at Bear Mountain is crazy.
He still holds the course record for HS boys at Saratoga State Park upstate, Section 2's normal sectional course in years where they don't host states. Back in the 80s states was there though which is where Trautmann set it. Section 2 is a perennial powerhouse in NYS cross country so it's saying something that 30 years on, his 14:35 record still stands. Murdock came within about a second of it a few years ago now but the record survived.
I wonder how many course records Trautmann still has.
I was '86 in NY and still have that T-shirt too. Trautman destroyed me many times!
What Trautman did is very impressive, but let's give some love to Mike Galoob, the champion. He's a good runner that was never national class, but running fast at 40. Congrats to Mike and all the masters runners in the mile! Inspiring!
Haile Gebrselassie - 4:37.7 mile for 13.1 miles straight. Age 40.
