Chef Rashid Ramzi:
"There's this ridiculous antiquated notion that African distance runners are noble savages - that they got this good from a mixture of genetics, hard work, and "running ten miles to school every day as kids." It's all horseshit - the Kenyans and Ethiopians are just as doped as the Chinese, Russians, Americans, Jamaicans..."[\i]
Well maybe not running 10 miles to school every day, but at least not getting a ride to the soccer field 2 miles away in mom's SUV.
From the previously linked article:
"Researchers have suggested that societies where more people do not want neighbours from other races can be considered less racially tolerant."
Racial intolerance is not racism. Racism is something that is built into a social context, so that it just happens and nobody has to say anything. People can even be wonderfully tolerant. Black people just "happen" to end up in ghettos and not do very well, and it all seems very reasonable and rational. oh well. And you just "happen" to not have to live in a ghetto, and take a good education for granted.
That is Racism.
So black people manage to sabotage themselves despite the best intentions of white people, and trillions of dollars poured into the cause. Wow, black people must be,....inferior? hmmm
oh yeah and it goes both ways. This supposed African superiority in running probably has some RACIST support.
In my opinion, if the only circumstantial "evidence" you got is race time, then you've basically got nothing.
First, it is an "indoor" world record. Maybe it's my personal bias, having never competed at indoor track, but indoor world records basically don't count. 3:55 is still some 4 seconds slower than the "official" world record for the distance.
Then you've got the questions of pedigree and precedence. The biggest reasons that Chinese times are suspect, is the multiple number of Chinese women who smashed the existing world records in basically two meets (1993 and 1997) hosted in China, with nothing comparable before or since.
Did they even compete indoors? No way any thing about the Chinese (or Russians) can be compared to the consistency and gradual long term progression of Ethiopian athletes named Defar and Dibaba.
At this point, there is no reason to suspect Dibaba's performance is not clean. We (I) would need more evidence corroborating evidence.

She'd be squeaky clean after I licked every drop of sweat off her body. Yummy. Dibaba sister sweat.

i'm sure the 50k balloons she just took to the bank was rejected by them as "don't count" ???
do it outdoors & then they'll accept the bonus as a deposit in her account ???

Good points but that time is still the fastest indoor or out for nearly 17 years, Take 1 or 2 seconds off for outdoor conversion and you are right in the middle of the times set by a bunch dopers. Then again she was born at altitude which again has to be worth a few seconds and 3:55 is the sort of times they should be running. When you think of all those American women who are running close or just under 4 who don't have her speed, form or endurance then she could be clean
A few years ago I didn't think the EA's were doping but now Im not so sure
I really hope you're trolling. The reason they never get better is because their age is fabricated. When they're "18", they are really at least 24- if not older.

You are a smart man, she is hot as hell. Bangin bod.
I posted this on another thread but here is what I think of the 1500m indoor record:
* Tracks are good enough indoors now that indoor and outdoor times can be pretty similar. Indoor times in the past lagged behind their outdoor counterparts either because the tracks were crap AND/OR people were more training through indoors. For example, Defar's best 3000m outdoor time is 8:24, her best indoors is 8:23! The fastest non-Chinese indoor 3k time is 8:21. So if someone decided to really focus on indoors and/or figured they could peak twice in a year, I don't see why it is unreasonable to think someone could run a fast time indoors. I mean, both Mottram and Komen were known to be in excellent shape year round (see Mottram's CWG performance in the 5000 or Komen's indoor records or 2M world record in the winter in Australia), so why not Dibaba?
* The womens 1500m record is weak. Suzy Hamilton ran 3:57 twice in 2000 off of far less mileage than the Africans now run (see her book for her training log), I don't think that it is that inconceivable to have someone as sickly talented as a Dibaba sister with a lot more training and freedom from injuries to be 2 seconds faster. Also, I hate to agree with Ventolin that if elder Dibaba and Defar ever dipped down to the 1500, we'd see some revisions to those 1500 lists. Think about college men: take a guy who runs a 3:55 1500, what does he run for the 3k and 5k? And put that next to what Defar and Dibaba have run.
Of course, this isn't saying that her performance couldn't be drug aided, but I don't think the performance is so far fetched that everyone has to jump on the drugs bandwagon immediately. Frankly these boards have gotten scarily cynical about any fast performance.

Nuff said. People are so brainwashed. An African? Must be clean. With more and more incidents of cheating amongst the Kenyans coming to light, you would think the blind, brainwashed true believers would at least question things. I like the way the top dog Epiopians performances dropped off somewhat once EPO testing became a bit more reliable. Where there's smoke, there's apparently no fire when it comes to people protected by Political Correctness.

The political correctness argument is really retarded. Do you really think that international sports federations like IAAF care about political correctness? All they care about is money, money, money.
Why would they bust American sprinters who have much higher market value for the sport than a bunch of East African distance runners largely unknown to the general public?
