I cringed when I read that he decided to go to Oregon. Are they incapable of keeping him healthy? Will he be able to put together a good outdoors campaign?

He certainly hasn't had a good start...
He hasn't even raced yet for Oregon. Oregon will make him even faster then he was just look at Alexi Pappas hell almost every single Oregon runner for that matter.
I think Oregon will sweep both indoors and outdoors this year for both the men and Women. But we have yet to see the Oregon big guns on the Men's side. and a couple of Women's side as well, Is Woodward still on the Women's team?? I wonder how many guys Oregon has that can go sub 4 this year. Cheserek,Dunbar,Stinson,Jenkins,Fleet,Leingang? maybe, who else????????
You forgot Jeremy Elkaim and Brett Johnson who have already run sub 4 as well. Others like Chris Brewer and Sam Prakel could make the jump too
Jenkins was injured when he arrived at Oregon. By Outdoor season he will likely be ready to go. Interesting that the poster talks about Oregon ruining a runner. The reality is that they have been very successful in keeping most of their runners healthy. Oregon has done a commendable job in working with Woodward, though she is not likely to be an active member of the team.

That's kind of my point...

What injury did he arrive with that has knocked him out for half a year?
Prakel is an animal, watched him race countless times in high school... he's got tons of potential!

We saw Stinson in Lexington. Owned at 3000m.
Jenkins was injured at Northeastern. As a result he missed the 2013 Outdoor Season and the Fall 2013 XC season. So, now it is Oregon's fault that they are taking it slow with this talented runner? He'll be running for Oregon soon enough, and when he does, maybe you'll shut up. Reminds me of all the nonsense from posters like you about Mac Fleet.

Runners get injured.
Having spoken with the parents of several current and recent Oregon athletes, I can tell you for certain that the Powell's approach is absolutely to monitor the health of the athletes and prevent injury and over training.
Taking such an approach resulted in Fleet and Greer both winning NCAA titles last year.
Be patient, trust the process.

So from the moment he arrived at Oregon, he was injured to the point that it was already a done deal he wouldn't race cross country or indoor track?
Powell was a 4:02 high school miler (if memory serves) who was injury-ridden constantly at Stanford and never came close to capturing the magic he'd had as a prep. If there was ever a Coach psychologically primed to make sure his athletes avoid injury, I would think it has to be him.

Think you're confused, he missed most (not all of the 2012 outdoor season). He tore it up in 2013 (at least early on outdoors) and competed through ncaa's
What half a year are you talking about? He was at Northeastern last Spring/Summer when he was initially hurt. He didn't arrive at Oregon until Fall Term that starts on October 1st. So he has been at Oregon for four months. Recovering from his injury, he had no intention to try to run XC in the Fall. So, now we are at the beginning of Indoor T&F, and his first races in an Oregon singlet will be taking place very soon. The Oregon program does as good a job as any program in looking out for the athlete. Now that he is ready to run...he will run, and he will run fast.

Multiple posts on the original thread claiming he arrived in Eugene in early September. 5 months I would say is near enough half a year. I will be anxious to see how he opens up.

What does this mean?
Look for him most likely on February 14-15. Don't worry, he will do fine. He's in a great program with great athetes with which to train.
Watch Powell's post-race interview at NCAA XC. He said Jenkins was in good shape, but they didn't think it was a wise choice for his individual well being to open him up at that point. How many other NCAA coaches would do that? Andy Powell is a class act and a great coach. I say this even though I strongly dislike the talent-mongering, Nike coddled Oregon Ducks.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
