Well done. Best of luck to Webb.
I hope it all works out for him. He reached the pinnacle of the mile. It wasn't fair for any of us to expect him to stay there forever. Now let's see how he does in tri.
interesting insight into the world of webb.
seems a bit too preoccupied/obsessed with always running fast. hates running on trails and uphill ?
htfu
harden the f up webb.
will not do well in tri.
the guys who run well there are strength orientated. and the guys who come from running who end up doing well overall are previous steeplechasers, the epitome of tough b**tards.
Those are some pretty decent swim times from ~15 years ago. I wish him the best of luck but I wonder if a major part of his running problems is that he has messed something up. Think about what happened to Al Sal.

Alan Webb forces his 2 year old daughter to wear an altitude mask, sick sick man.
"forces to wear .."
The mask thing in their blog was just goofing around. obviously. good grief.

Swimmers are ridiculously hard trainers. He'll be fine. With his skill at both sports and his monster quads, he'll be extraordinarily good at triathlon.
Thanks, Julia, for following through.

Buddy, you've got it backwards. The steeplechasers are the ones who previously didn't succeed in a flat event.

Notice the career went South right after the Asian Tattoo. Coincidence? Nope.

I wouldn't be surprised if he returns to focusing on running at some point.
Maybe Julia can offer up an answer on why Alan wouldn't have committed to the steeplechase at some point?

I think that's a concern when you are as focused and single minded of purpose as Alan. I'm similar in that way and running has always appealed to me more than than tris. Hopefully he'll have success and that will keep him focused.
I think he might come back to simply running as well if the cross-training he does by swimming and biking keep him healthy and he runs well. If all of sudden he pops off 3:55 and 7:48 indoors doing a little less running, but more alternative forms of endurance training, it would be hard for him to not want to run track outdoors. I just hope that he does stick with a formula that works and lets his body acclimate to the training.

You REALLY want to be inside xenonscreams, don't you?
I would love to see Webb and Lucas V. kicking some Brownlee ass.
He is going to pack on another 10lbs of muscle from swimming and biking. That is going to make it hard to come back and be a decent distance guy.Personally I hope he kicks ass. It would make it easier to make fun of the triguys:)

LOL
Hope that Webb has great success in the Tri. Best of luck
Not to sound critical but Webb's wife sounds like a piece of work. If I was him I'd ask her not to blog about me anymore. There's clearly some underlying bitterness there toward all the coaches, including the one who he was under running 3:53 and 3:46! He's the one who jumped ship time and time again, which she sound bitter about as well.
Keeping it real, venting or just bitching I don't know. I like Webb, and wish him the best of luck.
