actually reading the above list, YES
Ritz is a stud. 7 sub-62' performances. No wonder he was a World Bronze in the Half Marathon. Consistent as hell.

As a result, we figured it was ok to let you the faithful LRC visitor do some of our work for us. Does anyone have any idea if yesterday's USA half with 9 men at 62:00 in history was the deepest in US history?
We are working on the Week That Was and would like to include it in there.
Not only that but there were 67 men break 1:10 and 43 run 1:05:59 or faster. Truly a remarkably deep race of fast runners.
On another note, I saw a speedy dimunitive girl zoom past me. I looked at results and saw she ran an 1:31 and was only 11. I think she was one of the two young sisters discussed on here in the past.

Sub 62 isn't really that big of a deal. Especially for a guy that has a sub 13 5k PR. If anything, that's INconsistent.

OK, this is LR so someone's got to be the first to say it, short course?
HOUSTON 2009

1:01:35 Dathan Ritzenhein
HOUSTON 2012
1:01:30 Scott Bauhs
1:01:36 Luke Puskedra
NY 2006
1:01:28a Mebrahtom Keflezighi
1:01:34a Abdihakim Abdirahman
NY 2010
1:00:39a Mohamed Trafeh
1:01:55a Joshua Rohatinsky
NY 2012
1:01:41a Mebrahtom Keflezighi
1:01:52a Dathan Ritzenhein
As I understand the question, as using the data malmo linked, No US 1/2 marathon has had more than 2 US finishers. List shows that if you want to run fast go to NY, Philly or Houston
Philly had 3 in 1985.
The deepest field was NYC in 2012, at least 15 runners broke 1:02:00 but only 2 of them were Americans.

That wouldn't make it the deepest non-US in history... 2007 World Half-marathon Championships had 17 under 61:00.
I think Dathan Ritzenhein or Galen Rupp would have a great shot at breaking the American Half Marathon Record of 59:43 this year.
I thought Luke Puskedra looked really good! He seemed to have more rage and serious drive. What was he 6th. Like 23 sec back from Meb?
