You didn't make any predictions though. You want to take credit for discussing the favorites who should be discussed?
Meb, then Braun, Boit, Pennel, Llano, Puskedra, ???, Cabada 8th at 62:00.
Hall bonked hard, out of the top 8.
Burla at 80:48, Kleppin, Comfot, Thomas, Santucci, Suver, Moody, Dinius at 73:something.
No audio on Meb's interview
texts from last nite LRC-style wrote:
Rojo, you questioned Meb's age + Braun's half ability/PR in the text, and they end up 1-2...sure you want to take 'credit' for this??? ;)
Yes. She asked for my thoughts about the race so I broke it down like i thought an analyst would - conversational style. You look at the guys enetered and you realize instantly Meb and Braun are the best ones in terms of absolute performance. The question was : is MEb too old and is Braun good at thelonger stuff.Answer: No and yes.
Thats big. A big group, 10 or so together.

Great to see Burla get the win today. This NYTimes article tells a little more about her and the cancer and surgery she's dealt with.

Eggleston had the flue last week, so he scratched from the half, but was feeling better so he decided to pace the marathon as a workout.
Rojo, Braun won the Go!StLouis 1/2 marathon last year in 1:03:13, and set a Missouri state all-comers record in doing so, on a less than flat course, so was showing some distance ability with that. That record bettered the time of Gert Thys, a 2:06 marathoner, as well as Mark Curp's resident record.
Great fan turnout in spite of the 64 degree temps. Hundreds of fans came out to see the race. At some points clusters of as many as 15 fans could be seen enjoying the race. Many gathered at bus stops taking advantage of the sheltered seats.

Going to pickup my Skechers GoMeb Race shoe later this week...may even spring for those new gorun ultra's, that have vomero like cush but 8mm drop with insole. I believe these are Meb's trainers as he only does drills, shorter runs, and gym in the goruns.
Nice to see Wisconsin represented by the top three! First two are from Wisconsin and Caitlin ran for the Badgers.
Nice! New PR by Tim Ritchie.
I'm really impressed by Matt Llano. I never thought he was a 61:xx guy. That's really good.
Any news on the full marathon? Nice result for Eggleston at the half as a pacer. Wonder how he would have done if he had run the half.
Heard the coverage was solid. Pissed I missed it. Anyone know if it will be posted later for viewing for those who missed this morning? Or not worth watching?

22, actually. USATF moved the standard from 1:05:00 to 1:04:00 when they tightened the full-distance standard from 2:19:00 to 2:17:00.
Top 20 in the marathon...three Americans under the standard and Wietecha missing it by 17 seconds.

Julie Benson wasn't bad--she must have a lot of time on her hands to practice now that Jenny Simpson fired her.
Jorge Torres? Maybe he knows a lot, but the only thing missing from a complete meltdown in his commentary was a "Boom goes the dynamite."
I'm gonna make a rojo-esque prediction about today's NFL playoff games. Either the Broncos or the Patriots will wind up facing an NFL adversary in the Super Bowl, probably a West Coast team. I'm thinking the combined score of the two games today will be more than 15 points but less than 200. The team that wins will both run and pass the ball and also play enough defense to ensure a solid outcome, because that's how football is played these days by the new generations of pros -- none of this "score fewer points and advance to the next round anyway" shit from these 'roided-up monsters.
