I wonder what new 'recipes' the Nike Saladbar is cooking up.
Should have dropped a couple of 62s during the race.

Hasay must have gone out in 60, maybe less. She was leading the field and faded.
60 back in 68. Ouch.
Girls run better in the California high school state meet.
Do they then knock out a ton of 62s 400s on the track?
I think 2:08 is pretty good for Jordan at this point in the season given that she's a 10K gal. The fact that she can then go and run 62s like that means she can recover quickly. She is in very good shape. I think good things are coming for her.
She would have been better off running a proper 800 and still doing the workout with whatever was left.
I doubt the winner feels like her victory is tainted because someone else could do a workout after.
When did racing become not about racing?

Not a single California high school girl broke 2:08 last year...

which is what they did?????
I don't think you understand. I believe Jordan Hasay gave it her all in the 800. What's impressive isn't her 800 time, it's the way she recovered to run that fast so soon after her 800, for so many repeats. That's much more indicative of the type of fitness Jordan Hasay actually cares about, which I promise you is much more specific to events longer than the 800.
No, a proper 800 is even splits or a slight positive split.
She could have won with 2:04 by running 62-62 and then done the workout just as well.
Wouldn't that build much more confidence/potential fitness?
It's a bit early to get all caught up in one race.

Or one post race workout.
Hasay's time would have been good for #2 at the California State High School outdoor championships last June. That's how good Oregon coaching really is. I hate to think how bad it might have been if a couple of other New Balance pros had shown up, rather than just Kim Conley.
The fact is a 10k female runner isn't going to win much of note unless they are also in 2:00 shape.
I'm surprised anyone would think that recovery from a badly paced 800 and then a bunch of 400s at 800 pace has much to do with specific 10k training.

Agreed.
Those 400's will be sub 60 soon enough.
You're a hobby jogger Xenonsreams.
According to Shannon they went out in 62-63, probably 62 for Jordan, guess I over-estimated that.
But yes, SMJO, maybe she should have considered running a 4-second PR. Brilliant.
