His track record with top Americans?
Looks like ineptitude.....
Wat say you, sir?

Cap should have been booted years ago.
He is a left over from the Miller debacle. Program has lost its personality , its just a numbers game now.
Athletes will always come and go , no one single running athlete makes or breaks a company. You don't have to be very creative when you have a big bucks budget to spend.
Nike is on no mood to spend money since 2014 is a bye year with no olys nor outdoor worlds.
Nike does a great job of sponsoring athletes in a sport where others should dominate.
Athletes are simply marketing tools and no one does a better job of marketing than Nike.
Running Specialty sales
Brooks 35%
Asics 17%
Saucony 9%
Nike 8%
So Nike is a long way from being the big guy when it comes to sales in this channel yet they sponsor the most amount of Track athletes. Why? Because they are taking money from other channels to pay for Track and Field.
What other company is taking profits from someplace other than what they are making on our sport to sponsor athletes?
Thank You Nike
Meb, Leo and Nick are not native Oregonians so who gives a fack?

I think you made one good (maybe) point and one bad point.
Your good point....Nike is being generous in comparison to others based on sponsoring a sport where they don't sell a lot of stuff. (not sure that's actually true directly about track/racing gear).
And you just said nobody does a better job at marketing....which based on what you're saying is completely false. So they are sponsoring more big name people and outspending others, but getting crushed in sales. What exactly do you think marketing is?

But Nike stock is up because of image. Most people (yourself included) have a tough time believing those numbers. Stockholders agree with you.

Now that i think about it, your whole post is incredibly dumb. Your post about sales is inaccurate since it's not related, and is not about PROFITS. And your post makes it seem like their marketing is bad, rather than good. It's similar to the smart phone model. Apple makes almost all of the profits, Samsung makes the rest, and nobody else makes any even though they sell a lot of crap.
Get a clue. You're not doing Nike a service with your stupidity.

How does this look like ineptitude? How do you know that those cut American runners weren't asking for too much money? Is Nike supposed to give every runner a million dollar contract with no strings attached?

It automatically does it when you quote someone else who did it unless you delete it (like i just did). Not sure why the first guy was writing in bold.
Nike's only into supporting certain "all-American" types and somehow even Symmonds didn't fit into that category. It doesn't really matter for the company's finances, but what message does it send to the running community when you don't want to touch (most) Americans who actually win medals?
David Torrence got a contract renewal from Nike.
