Looks like a bluetooth headset. Instructions from his coach?
Isn't that illegal?
Yes, I'm pretty sure headphones/music devices etc are prohibited at all USATF Championship events.
That is Jacques Sallberg and he is 39 and pretty damned fast.
Kip litton
faster than ahrlin and uli?
Yes he is.

His lifetime PRs include 3:41 for the 1,500, 7:56 for the 3,000, 8:28 for the steeple and 13:52 for the 5,000. Those are from 7 or 8 years ago, but the guy is no joke. A few of the guys around him in the photo finished about 90 seconds behind him. Who cares if he wore a Bluetooth in a race full of wannabe jokers who think they're better than they are anyway? Whoopee, Club Nats! Represent!
He's a contender to do a four minute mile over 40. We need more of those.
Way to represent!! My new hero.

I heard from a friend that he was at the bathroom when the gun went off. He quickly got out and barely had time to get his stuff off. i guess he forgot to take the earphones off.

That's basically what happened. There's a photo of him starting the race about 30 seconds late floating around somewhere on the interwebs.
I feel bad for this guy, he went down really hard:
He is there for a while before somebody from the sidelines comes and helps him up.
Who is the sexy beast in blue behind the guy that fell?

I wonder if that's the dude some of my teammates helped up and offered a beer to (he took it). Whoever it was, guy who went down and took a beer apparently had seriously hurt (probably broken) his ankle.
