The probability that two people at random would be within 20 seconds of each other at 5k is approximately 1,872 to 1. Thus the chances of an interesting race are vanishingly small.

Don't you know that everyone on LetsRun runs a 14:05?
if you're ever around the DC area i will race you
you gonna be going through sacramento?
Uh..you know California is a pretty big state, right? Hey! I'm in Eureka, CA. Wanna drive up here and race me?
I'll only do it if it's a race to the death

He made it pretty clear he's driving (probably from OR/WA) to SoCal, so he's passing through most of the state to get there.
Let'srace.com, this seems like an awesome idea. I read the thread about your last challenge/race (Here's the thread for anyone interested:
http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=5387968&page=0
). This time try to get pictures to make this seem more legit.
Unfortunately I'm from the northeast, so I can't race you, but I'm looking forward to seeing how this goes. Good luck!

I certainly can...if you make a course map, I'll show up. Does sometime between noon and 4 work for you?
Or guy from Eureka, are you actually interested?
I'll be checking this thread pretty frequently, hopefully something works out here...
I'm driving down to Southern California and have a pretty loose schedule so I thought it'd be fun to race someone. I did this once before near Chicago and it was surprisingly successful.
You pick the course/distance (1-5 miles) and tell me what time to be there...afternoon is probably best but morning could work if you're in northern CA.
I think it's more fun if you don't tell me your PRs or anything until after the race. You can look up the race report from last time I did this if you want but it doesn't tell you much and I'm not in the same shape I was then.
Wager is also your choice: a six-pack of beer, the jersey off the loser's back, or both.
Any takers?
LetsRun.com addition: Here is last year's challenge thread:
This is about the best post thread/idea I've seen on this site if legit. Pictures/video/the whole 9 an absolute must though.
Great idea, everyone on Letsrun should do this.
I'd also be in favor of a Grindr type app that alerts you when a fellow Letsrunner is near, so the two of you can race.
You a big Grindr app guy michigan?
How fast are you?

You wish ;)
I'll race you.
Very cool concept, in that no one will know what they're up against. Ideally you can get a handful of people to show up.
Be sure to do a follow-up.

If you race me you'll find out. Maybe I'm 3 minutes faster than you, or 3 minutes slower than you, or maybe we're pretty much even and an x factor would determine the race.
