These are sad times in college track and field. Nearly every job posting should have a line next to the EOE statement at reads: "Experienced coaches need not apply" and "if you have a family....don't waste your time".
This is not a knock on any of the coaches that are being hired on a personal level, it just AMAZES me the number of coaches that I know who have very strong resumes with reagards to student retention, recruiting and producing results at conference and national levels that can't an opportunity. I suppose it does help that those that are getting hired can (and will) work for 30-35k.
And before anyone fires back - NO, I have a job that is way more stable then college coaching. After 20+ years in the business, those years are behind me.
Best of luck to all the coaches that have found a new home. 2014-15 should prove to be another fantastic year in track and field.
