We are working on our NCAA Individual previews and are wondering if anyone can confirm that Maksim Korolev isn't a US citizen. He was born in Kazakhstan and moved her at age 7.
says that's who he runs for but we just want to confirm.

No he is not American
TFN summary from the regional meets does not list him as foreign.
He is from a small town around here, Harrisonville, Missouri.
There has never been anything written here locally during his high school days that he is a foreign citizen. I know he is from Kazakhstan, but can't confirm anything from local news/interviews.
He retweeted this tweet someone posted, so I would think we would have corrected it if he was not an American:
"Maksim Korolev is a monster right now. Right now he might be the best American runner in the NCAA."
I'll pay to see his Hawaiian birth certificate
He's likely become a US citizen. I can't detect an accent or anything, he's pretty much assimilated into US culture.
Can confirm he is US citizen.

If I wasn't American and someone referred to me as American, I would retweet it because I thought it was funny. Although it appears this guy is American, retweeting something wouldn't be the surest confirmation.
Official american citizenship or not, the fact that he has lived in the US since that young of an age makes me consider him American.
And don't give me the load of crap "He ain't born here!". Well, excluding truly native americans, we all came off a boat at some point too.
Why don't you just contact his coach and ask him?
maybe he's part of a sleeper cell
Also pretty sure Futsum's American. And does Eddie Ches plan on getting an American citizenship? Went to HS here, going to college here, seems likely.

And has grandkids here.

As of 2012 at least, Futsum was not a U.S. citizen, although he expressed hope of running for U.S. someday in Olympics.

This is Letsrun, ain't it?
Ergo, he is white
Oops. I meant ergo he is American.
See how interchangeable the two concepts are.

That's not the point. I think they want to know if he's American in the sense that he'll be able to compete in US championships or run for the US. Probably putting together a preview that discusses who will be the top American finishers.
