I just wanted to comment on how lucky some teams are that they are in the regions they are. Just looking on the guys side, South Central, South, and Mid-Atlantic are just pretty unimpressive depths wise.

South-Central has Arkansas and Texas.
The top two spots are basically already taken. That means the other teams aren't lucky but had to beat good teams throughout the year in order to get in.
The South has always been known as the weakest region though.
Villanova Women. How many people actually had them even qualifying? Not many if any. And then they go beat a top 5 team to win their region. Great coaching job by Gina Procaccio!
Edward Cheserek is the real deal. Got it done at 10k.
NC State was pretty impressive considering how bad they were all season.
Air Force men
Not really a surprise, but Ed Ches continues to impress. Top 5 next week?
Great Lakes Men's race must have been quite the nail biter. 4 teams within 5 points is insane. Props to Gibby for getting his guys ready. He seems to almost always get it done. Unfortunate Wisco couldn't get total redemption.
Surprises-
Eastern KY men
Colorado Women
Chokes-
Duke women (#1 preseason to not qualifying)
Suprises/Upsets
NC State over UNC to get pushed in after a not running well at Griak, Wisco, or ACCs. Geigers proves his magic once again.
Duke women bust. Hope to see this crew get it together in the years to come.
BYU gets Ward back, he finished 3rd and then they almost choke.
Stanford rises up to beat Oregon, huge race from Achoo who is mainly a miler, or at least was.
Georgia bouncing back after a rough year to win the South region by 1 point over Florida.
Can I say that I was surprised by the coverage? These are regionals and, if not present, the best thing you can do is keep up with the timing company's twitter feed for splits.

Malachy Schrobilgen lost a shoe after two km and would likely have finished higher than 9th - 6th would have given them the victory.
The top four teams all got in; the separation by only five points total is extremely unusual.
Colorado women with 7 in the top 15
And Colorado #6 Ammar Mousa finished right with NAU #5 and NM #5, as well as Colo #5, Blake T all 25-28. I wouldnt be surprised if Wetmore had his guys dial it back a bit to save some gas for Terre Haute. He is always so focused on peaking for Nationals.
SURPRISES: Georgia and NC State Men.
I don't know what Geiger said or what he gave his guys to drink before the race but 3 FRESHMAN in the top 5, in what I assume was their first 10k. Wow. After absolutely tanking at ACCs (8th). Guess Geiger isn't out of magic after all.
Georgia had a lot of surprises come up out of nowhere and helped them fill out their top 5 tremendously. Hats off to Coach Norton and Cunniff for peaking these guys at the right time AGAIN.
TANK: Georgetown and Washington Men
Hard to call it a tank at Regionals for Georgetown because they ran pretty damn well. So I'm gonna call it a Season Tank for Georgetown who missed getting in by 3 points in their region (3rd behind Princeton). I bet they all miss Miltenberg pretty bad right about now. So much talent on this team right now, much better then A LOT of teams going to nationals.
Washington placed 9th in the West region. Behind the likes of Washington St., Cal Poly, UCLA, and Arizona State. At Wisconsin they finished 15th beating teams like Air Force, Indiana, Texas, Dartmouth, and Florida whom are ALL going to Nationals. Talk about tanking.
The Penn Quakers surprised many by placing 4th at the Mid-Atlantic Regional. It might not had done much impact on the NCAA selection process, but they were predicted to be 9th or 10th going into the meet. They did get one individual to NCAAs - sophomore Thomas Awad (5th overall).
stopping making excuses will be your biggest accomplishment. grow up junior
Is it really a surprise when Duke chokes? It's pretty much expected at this point.
Do Duke men and women have the same coach, Norm? Both sides really took steps backwards throughout the season. They have the talent, must be coaching or team atmosphere.
