If the cross-country thread could start early, so can this one--besides, the first meets are just four weeks away!
Thoughts? For me, the presumptive men's favorite--pretty much every year now--is Princeton. They didn't pick up their usual Heps xc win last week, but I think their combination of distance, mid-distance, and "explosive" athletes (sprints/jumps/hurdles/throws?/multis) is unmatched.
I know there was a lot of noise about Cornell's recruiting class, but a) they're just freshmen--you want to rely on frosh for a title?--and b) Cornell is just too thin in some areas. Doesn't look like the Big Red have got much going for them in the longer events this year, so I'd imagine they'll be rooting for Columbia's distance crew to continue its winning ways against the Tigers.
And even in the events where Cornell has real headliners, they often seem to have a single guy, which can be scary; and their recruiting didn't necessarily address that. (I understand that at the last minute they lost some guys to scholarship programs.) So I have to say Princeton, until shown otherwise.
Shazzuy, are you in the house? Thoughts on throws?
