I would say the advantage to PEDs is that they allow you to train harder and more frequently. So yes a person is limited by their baseline potential, but their baseline is no longer the same as before when they are able to train HARD damn near every day. I could take EPO for a year and not run for that same year and guess what, I'd be a slow fat-ass. I would have to take EPO and bust my balls while on it to actually see results. Drugs aren't the magic potion to awesome, they just allow you to surpass the normal limits of training.
You want to trai harder? Try improving basic fitness. You don't need so called PED's to do this.
I can say this forever, but the letsrun sheep are never going to get it. For the very few of you out there who want to rise above the noise....

The anecdotal evidence is out there... Several weeks away from running and never allowing yourself to get hungry seems to alleviate most of the individuals that are having hypothyroid issues related to training and not eating enough. I do think this is where Alberto's group pushes through, and is able to continue competing at an elite level and with almost inhuman levels of body fat (that is inherently performance enhancing). I think Ritzenhein is one of the most interesting cases. He has a tiny frame, but has never looked as insanely lean as he has under Alberto, Mo Farah as well. Its not like he wasn't putting in the training before he went to the NOP.
Unlike the Finns, Russians, East Germans, Spanish, Italians, Moroccans, French, Kenyans, Ethiopians, and every other group who has ever run as fast as the NOP runners are running right now, our athletes did it by simply training smarter.

None of those nationalities, other than the last two, have a 10,000m record faster than Galen Rupp's.
Yup, just like lance, we are out-performing the cheaters.
I have been taking thyroid meds for 10 years and my running has only gotten worse...I need to find out what the NOP meds are exactly.
does any one know for sure?
But if your thyroid is running a bit slow, a few changes in your diet may help to naturally bring back that bounce in your step!
The great news is that following a low thyroid diet need not be a chore. Most of the foods on this list have numerous other health benefits and can make some delicious recipes.
Use this as an opportunity not only to get your thyroid working properly, but to improve your general health too!

Foods to Eat
Notes
VEGETABLES
Alfalfa
Artichokes
Avocado
Beets
Bell Peppers
Carrots
Celery
Cucumber
Leeks
Mushrooms
Okra
Peppers
Potatoes
Sea Vegetables
Squash
Pumpkin
Tomatoes
Zucchini
Avocado and potatoes are great source of tyrosine - hypothyroidism has been linked to low levels of this amino acid.
Artichokes double up as a powerful liver detoxifier.
Sea vegatables are rich in iodine too - you can try kelp, kombu, wakame, arame and dulse.
BEANS
Azuki Beans
Black Beans
Lima Beans
Mung Beans
Navy Beans
Pinto Beans
Red Kidney Beans
Split Peas
Beans are a rich in Iodine. They are also a good source of fiber, which is helpful as many people with hypothyroidism also suffer from constipation.
HERBS
Black Pepper
Chilies
Garlic
Ginger
Cinnamon
Tumeric
Peppermint
Cilantro
Parsley
Rosemary
Some of these herbs are brilliant for warming you up and raising your metabolism - try black pepper, chilies, garlic, ginger, cinnamon and tumeric.
Cilantro will help detox metals out of your system, especially mercury, a proven toxin for the thyroid gland.
FRUITS
Apples
Apricots
Bananas
Blueberries
Blackberries
Cherries
Cranberries
Dates
Grapefruit
Kiwi
Papaya
Pineapple
Prunes
Raspberries
Cranberries are a great source of iodine. A half a cup contains 400mcg of iodine. I recommend buying fresh or frozen cranberries and adding them to smoothies. Supermarket cranberry juice usually either contains a lot of sugar or unhealthy sweeteners.
Prunes and dates are useful but only in small quantities.
GRAINS
Amaranth
Quinoa
Buckwheat
Brown Rice
Wild Rice
Although buckwheat is technically a fruit, buckwheat products are very nutritious.
You can find all these products in various flours, pastas, cereals and crackers.
OILS
Coconut Oil
Olive Oil
Raw Butter
Coconut oil has a naturally stimulating effect on the thyroid gland.
NUTS
Brazil Nuts
Macadamia Nuts
Hazelnuts
Coconut Meat
Brazil nuts are very high in selenium, which is needed to convert the thyroid hormone T4 to T3. Be sure to only eat 1 or 2 though, any more is too much! Only a little selenium is necessary for the thyroid to function properly.
FISH
Sardines
Red salmon
Sadly the global fish supply is poisoned with PCBS and mercury, substances that poison your thyroid and the rest of your body, so it is recommended to cut down your seafood consumption. Limit your fish dishes to a maximum of one serving a week.
Try taking an Omega-3 supplement - deficiencies of this fatty acid have been linked to lower thyroid hormone levels.
ANIMAL PRODUCTS
Chicken
Turkey
Beef
Lamb
Eggs
Without adequate protein the thyroid can't function properly, even if you are taking suitable thyroid medication.
Be sure you get organic free range eggs.
Chicken and turkey contain tyrosine, an important amino acid that combines with iodine to make the thyroid gland function properly.
Commercial meat is packed with antibiotics which are disruptive to the thyroid gland - all meat consumed should be organic if possible.
Processed meats, like lunch meat, bacon and spam, are loaded with dextrose, nitrates, sulphates and sugars.
Smoked or vacuum packed meats are also best avoided.
What Fam obviously does not understand is that no amount of rest can help some with a true thyroid problem. He most luckily overtrained himself and fried his Adrenal glands not his thyroid. If you fry your Adrenals, it will effect your thyroid hormone output but one can not simply take thyroid meds and get out of that hole. This is probably why he had such a bad reaction to thyroid meds. He did not need them. He just needed rest to restore his Adrenal glands and thyroid was able to function properly. The two are highly dependent and intertwined with each of the Adrenals and Thyroid. For him to be accusing people of using thyroid meds to get a one up, is just crazy. Thyroid meds can not help in anyway and in fact they are hindrance for most taking them. It is very hard to regulate the thyroid and just a little too much can cause heart palps and extreme anxiety and you certainty can not run even near a fast pace. And for those with a true thyroid disorder a little too little, can cause depression, weight gain, apathy and no desire to run so it is very hard to even. This is NO gain to be taking thyroid meds if you do not need them! It in fact very dangerous to take if you have healthy thyroid function. I think Fam's uneducated accusations are only to cause more harm than good. He is going to inflame those you are already yelling thyroid meds are performance enhancers for which they have no education in thyroid metabolism and physiology. It becomes a case of complete ignorance to those who have true thyroid disorders. Most of you letsrunners who sit and cry about those on thyroid meds should hope you never have a thyroid disorder. They are not fun at all and it is a very complicated disorder. Fact is thyroid disorders are becoming more common even among men due to our exposure to toxins, food supply and stressful lives.

Rupp needs them to run 7:30 indoors.

whether I post as Jono or J.R., no one seems to listen, drugs don't work.
Surely they do work, look at cathal lombard's improvement.
Also steroids clearly work.
ya they didn't work for cathal lombard lol
he only improved by about 2 minutes over 10000
I'm not J.R. I'm J.O.
Cathal Lombard was still the best runner in Ireland even after the EPO suspension. Which pissed people off even more.
Instead of looking at hematocrit values, why don't people look at plasma percentage and how you can boost your performance legally with the right values for each race?
Basic physiology y'all.
Nobody interested??
No surprise there.
