I don't think Ryan Hall could run his own pace for 26.2 miles.

Truth.
I think that is BRILLIANT!....hope they run that commercial during the NYM...trying to explain to non-runners how fast these guys are running is difficult to do verbally. This demonstrates it in an understandable and entertaining way.
Hats off to Asics...
PS..the only thing better would be to have recognizable athletes from other sports trying to do the same..
Love to see, Lebron, RG III, Messi, etc...never happen, but how cool would that be.
Great ad. I don't know if anyone else remembers this one from a few years back.
It's funny that a new ad shows him running in the Hyperspeed, one of the greatest shoes of all time, which they discontinued in favor of ordinary crap.

I like the demonstration. But, part of the reason is, most lay people and I daresay hobby joggers and sideline supporters of hobby joggers, don't have an appreciation of the practical speed of a sub 5:00 mile. Therein, I think said poster's idea is real good. It's not just that your average office worker in business casual clothing can't sustain sub 5:00 mile pace, but pro athletes would work up a sweat and be visually exerting, too. We need dramatization like that to garner the deserved respect elite distance running ought to have in contrast to overhyped, overmonied professional team sports.
Blah blah. What's the point?
I would like to see Ryan Hall on a treadmill running Usain Bolts pace and see what happens? He'll be smashed against the wall.
Or see Ryan Hall try to attempt lift Fronings weights. He will probably break a few bones while trying that.

This was put on for the NYC marathon. That is the point. They want people to try to run Ryan Hall's MARATHON pace...because they are running a MARATHON in the next week.
List of items Ryan Hall and the NYC marathon registrants aren't doing this weekend:
1. Sprinting 100m all out on a mondo track at the Olympics.
2. Lifting heavily at a CrossFit convention.

When was the last time Ryan Hall actually finished a race? He's too frail/SCRAWNY to man up and come home STRONG.
I would love to see Froning attempt local age group 5k pace for approximately 5k.
I am sure he should go paleo to in order to run sub-2:05.
They're bringing back the Hyperspeed.

Marathon's a clown event anyway, bro. Bunch skinnyfats sloggin' their way through a bunch of soccer mom cheerleaders for hours on end. No sport there.

Speaking of...
Sometimes when I am at the gym I will see cross fit guys doing their HIGH INTENSITY sprints on the treadmill... at my tempo pace.
It is fun to watch them hammer for 30 seconds while running relaxed at the same pace for 40 minutes on the next treadmill over. :)
Hey I ran that pace for a few miles every weekend from 2009-2010
It's not hard bro
Man Up
Nothing about crossfit is impressive enough to call it x-fit.
You're douchebags to other douchebags within your community. Your competitive exercising is toxic and ruins many athletes and forces away many aspiring competitive exercising enthusiasts.
Froning is the "best" at it because nobody else is going to invest the time to be above average at exercising as a whole, most physically gifted people focus on a sport with real vested interest in it.

Real vested interest? Cross fit has huge interest in it. What are you talking about? And I like running but running is about the most general exercise you can do. You could easily say that trying to be the best at exercising is what distance running is about too.
That's awesome, except that they claim it's Hall running at his marathon pace, 4:46/mile. In other words, Boston 2011 pace. Shouldn't the kids be offered the chance to run along side him downhill, with a hurricane blowing behind them?

I disagree. Running began as a sport. It has since turned into an activity for exercise only. Crossfit uses only exercises and combines them to make a sport. I think you have got it backwards.
