Master fans,
64 year old Yoshihisa Hosaka didn't get the age 62 record as he ran 2:50:44, well off the 2:42:44 record he was hoping for and the 2:46:17 he ran earlier this year.

Why would a 64 year old be shooting for the age 62 record? Typo, or is there something about masters' records that I don't understand?
He'll beat that next year.
Ed was also faster than 60% of the entire male field.
Without looking it up, I'm guessing it's the 60-64 age group record, and the current record was set by a 62 year old.
82 in the blue!...go ed!
Looks like he was going for the best for a 64-year-old, the 2:42:44 by Clive Davies. The list of age bests is here:

Yoshi is 64 and was going for the single age 64 record. Weather conditions were good but both Yoshi and I misjudged the pace for the fitness we had on the day and basically ran too fast early in the race. I had a really tough time over the last 5 k. We both ran about 10 minutes over what we thought we could do, although I did have more than usual doubts about the realism of my goal
Ed
Ed,
Congratulations for your great run and new record!
Thank you for inspiring us, and best wishes to you
Yes, thank you for sharing what you do with us and the rest of the world. You lead by example.
Ed's the king.
Ed is a running hero, but it's kinda comforting to know he can make the same misjudgments about pace that I seem to make from time to time.
Congratulations, Ed. To miss your goal by 10 minutes and set a single age world record ain't bad!
Heh, I read the subject as a 1500 meter time at first. Was blown away.
I'm finally faster than Ed Whitlock!
