Not taking sides here but I can vouch for Kip Litton for the first 22 miles of the 2004 Richmond Marathon. We both ran in a 3:10 pace group of about 10 guys. We were all together for the first 10-12 miles then one by one some of the guys fell off. There were 4 of us & the group leader around mile 22 when Kip & another dude dropped us. I never saw him after that but he finished in 3:08. Can someone explain to me how a dude could cheat when surrounded by 5-10 guys for 22 miles? I'm all ears...
what's the point of that post?
that's not one of the races that he cheated in
Someone should call Kip's office and ask the receptionist if he'll go for the $2000 from Rojo or not

+1
This thread has become more popular because Lisa Litton's legal firm is sifting through it
I don't know who is sifting through this.
Can't believe Kippy wants to take the time to post as 100 different friends, relatives, and random HS runners who remember a masters runner who beat them 4 yrs ago.
But then, I guess that's nothing compared to the time it takes to create fake websites, names, and race results for three different races.
But regardless, whoever you are who has time to plead Kip's case... I find it worth mine to remind you that Rojo has $2000 on the line, and all Kip has to do is toe it start to finish.
Heck, sell tickets and raise some money for your beloved charity. I'd pay to watch him race! Maybe a marathon on a track...
All of you are just jealous of Kip because he and his friends can break 5 minutes in the mile
His family was at West Wyoming!!! So he must be innocent!

There is a disconnect between the falseness that is accepted here on Lets Run and the New Yorker, and the actual fact that it was pretty much a hoax, which is known to be the case by most everyone where Kip lives. After the story broke there were runners and a number of other people who confirmed that Kip could not have possibly cheated.
Oh really?

Riiiight - and they think the New Yorker article is completely accurate because they haven't done a thing about it?
What about the SOKLR site and the numerous comments from Race Directors out there?
Kip Litton sucks. Can't believe we're still talking about it though
Dan Baxley: "I ran your proposal by Kip. As you may or may not know, he is quite successful financially, and $3,000 is hardly worth his time. He also said that you should not be the only one to "put your money where your mouth is" - so his counter proposal is to execute a contract specifying that he run a full marathon course of his choosing in 3:30 or less. You and/or anyone else is free to run or cycle with him, or follow him in a car. The run will be timed by at least two independent persons. You will both place $50,000 USD in escrow with an independent attorney. If he runs the course in 3:30 or less, the funds will transfer to his account. If not, they will transfer to yours."
Me: "Cool. It's not my proposal. Rather, robert Johnson who cofounded letsrun dot com offered him $2000. Can I run this by Robert?"
Dan Baxley: "I'll check with him, also regarding timing...he was involved in a car accident some months ago, and I believe that he has only been cycling this year."
Me: "Robert Johnson who cofounded letsrun offered him $2000 to run under 3:30 with 1000 for just doing it and another 1000 for meeting the sub 3:30. We can together get in touch with Robert Johnson about changing the terms but they are posted on the latest letsrun thread and on the SOKLR blog."
Shouldn't he be able to run a 3:30 on the spot if he's a sub 3 marathoner?

How many car accidents is that now? I'd hate to be his insurance company.

^^^
This makes no sense. If he is over confident and wants to up the price, that's one thing (a weird thing, more on that later). But then to say he's sticking with biking? Why is he trying to up the purse on a race he's not trained for? Or better yet, why is he engaging w/ SOKLR at all about Rojo's offer?
As for 5$0K, seriously? This is not the World Marathon Majors. $2k probably exceeds the prize purse for whatever race Kipster chooses. It's a more than generous prize for a not-even-sub-elite time.
Rojo might be out 2grand or 50grand. While Kip is a cheat and he ain't that good, he CAN JOG. With a little training the arrogant shit could pull off a

Picture of him in final yards: completely dry tee shirt on a VERY hot day, on a VERY demanding course. He was asked by the RD to account for his race and Kip did NOT reply. RD DQ'd him. No protest from Kip. If you felt you were innocent of charges, you damn well know you, gentle LR poster, would be quick to explain yourself. Kip didn't. He couldn't. Busted. The course is a piece of cake to cheat.
----------------------------------------------------
This is a prime example of the fraud that has been perpetrated and perpetuated here. I have 100%
crystal clear proof that you are lying. What you don't realize is that when Kip met with all of us he passed out a pile of emails, photos and results from all races in question. I have an email from the Solstice RD Alan Whitehead and two replies from Kip scoffing at the obvious absurdity of using his alleged level of perspiration.. He vehemently denied cheating and offered to run the course again along with a wager he would best his previous time. But it was actually Mr Whitehead who DID NOT REPLY. Add this to his family witnessing him there, other runners remembering him and photos of him at different points along the course makes it 100% clear to anyone with a brain that there was absolutely no cheating. So much for that iron clad claim that he "didn't sweat quite enough"!! Checkmate.

Maybe Rojo will go with this revised Proposal for Kip?:
Under 3:30 - $2000
Under 3:20 - $5000
Under 3:10 - $10000
Under 3:00 - $50000
"Fraud Alert" presumably is to warn us about you, everything that needs to be shown in this case is here

Why's that? Kip DID cheat, stealing places from deserving runners. And because he won't confess to it, it's that much more frustrating.
