Rojo, it's time to start a third Kip Litton thread so that we don't have to read the second thread.
My girlfriend is in an exercise physiology program where a few of her classmates happen to run XC/track for the university (a major d1 school). She had mentioned Kip Litton to them the other day in her course and the d1 guys had burst out laughing (since they frequent letsrun dot com message boards they do know who this great man is)

At our school class reunion we had a one mile fun run. I was 2nd in 5:04 and Kip was a couple seconds behind me. We were about 46-47 then. He's got the wheels for a mile, after that I couldn't tell you.
So you're a dentist runner?
What the ?
Porto johns at road races being called Kips? Makes sense to me

This. Useless thread. Contributes zero to the body of knowledge already known.
Ok I have held out long enough. I'll give you a hint. The last marathon Kip ran was after Sept 1, in the US and his time was easily under 3 hours. Of course he used an alias. But you'll never guess which one! HA!!!!!!!!!

The alias being Cheaty McCheater? So the question is really, car or bike between the timing mats?

My guess is Skip Demats.
David Kipling Litton
The name Kipling means curing of salmon or herring
Why was he named this?
I found the Kips wrote:

We're already referring to cutting the course as "kipping", perhaps what we need is to find something to call a "Litton". Like, "I was almost to the finish line when I Littoned in my pants. It was so embarrassing."
Why wasn't Kip Litton arrested at the Detroit free press relay after claiming he took a wrong turn when he had actually cheated?
I wonder what we gather from looking at ip addressed of all posters here

This is VERY funny.
But I wondered how well it applied to Kip. I know he was missing a couple splits at St Louis, but I remember when it was vetted that there were 'spotters' on the course who verified him and thus he was not disqualified.
So I looked up all his marathons only to discover there were no 'skipped mats' anywhere in all of his other marathons. Zero.
That's ok, let's just continue to bash him here, its a hoot!!

Yes, Kip was really good about hitting all of the mats- that's why we're so fascinated by this story. He's like the evil genius of race cheaters: he makes it completely obvious that he's cheating by changing clothes/shoes, walking in race photos, starting each race at the back, being fat, etc. But he does hit all of the mats in plausible splits, which makes us wonder how exactly he manages to pull it off. I guess a car or bike could do it, although I'd love to here from ol' Kippy himself how exactly he cheated in Boston (there's probably an amusing anecdote in there about how he almost got stuck in traffic and nearly missed walking over a mat on time).
Also lol at "some stranger" defending Kip. How do you explain the made-up races? I guess we can't actually PROVE that they didn't exist, right?

Proof exists.
Y'all need to let this go, it's over, done with. Unless you can explain the 'how' and/or 'why', there's nothing new here. Nothing. He cheated, repeatedly and denied, repeatedly that he cheated. He's a serial cheat & crappy liar.
I would like to move away from the West WY marathon - which has now had the "perfectly logical" reason presented from the defenders on this message board that Kip was the only one who showed up. Just for a minute here, I'll spot you that one: there is a *very slim* possibility that occurred.
Lets talk about the Sandy Springs Half Marathon ... another one that has been identified as not existing.
I live in the ATL metro area, and did some research on this one in the orig. thread. I looked through the print running calendars, the Run GA calendar, track club calendars, and all the other esoteric calendars where lower key, off the radar races would show up. I had no record of this being advertized anywhere.
Though multiple others on letsrun, it was confirmed the race did not exist.
So I would like to hear from Kip what went wrong? Did all the registered folks just not show up to this one too? Maybe there was a really bad accident on GA 400, and Kippy was the only one who got through? I'd really like to hear about what happened here.

It started and finished on Mount Vernon Highway. I assume it was discontinued. There's still a 5K and 10K.
The easiest thing to do is be a bandwagon jumper and join in on the hate. Dr. Litton has been the single largest donor to my hometown race every year. Through his generosity we have been able to raise enough money to purchase land for a kids and family park. Many here are grateful to him an think you are being too harsh and have strung this ridiculousness out far too long. It really appears pretty creepy.
Congrats on googling up a race held on a major GA highway ;)
Trouble is, "The Doug Kessler Sandy Springs Lightning 10K has been one of the fastest 10K races in the state of Georgia for the last 26 years."

This race has been around forever, I've run it a few times myself, and assure it has never had a half attached to it, especially not in 2010.
Plus, you will notice it has a website attached to an area festival - not the goofy "sandy springs half marathon" psudo website screen captured on SOKLRs page.
So since the Doug Kessler 10k/5k is decidedly not related to the hypothetical Sandy Springs Half marathon, I'm still curious to know hear how Kip found it.
Dare you (Kip) to pick the name of a random runner in the ATL area and have them vouch for Kip beating him/her fair and square back in 2010... I guess the risk would be you pick someone I know and could check with...

Funny that you would say that Kip.
Everyone who hears the tale of Kip Litton ROFL and can't get enough of it. Are the people in your hometown that different? Doubt it.
