I just saw Teg finishing in the background during the interview, time?
2:09:47 on a "bad" day is still pretty darn good. Good job Ritz.
Kimetto's interview... He has a way with words... Yeah

Ritz...I'm looking at you.[/quote
Do you really think these guys come in half assed?
It has nothing to do with their training for effort, but they always talk about it
Bro they are runners what do you think they are going to talk about? Their golf game?
Anyone on her spent much time in Kenya? Would Kimetto's post-race interview be more interesting if it was done in Swahil or are Kenyans just naturally like really quiet.
HOw do you fell.
Q: How do you feel.
A:I am happy because I got the course record.
Q: How were the conditions:
A: The conditions were very good.
You put a mic in front of an American and most of them just won't shut up. Is this a language or culture thing?

Very happy. Mutai. Course record. Kenya. Yeah...
they couldn't split screen the shaky, out-of-frame shots of Jeptoo finishing with a fixed shot of the men's finish????
5th for Ritz??? Are we sure about that?

What place did that get him?
Rita Jeptoo is cranking. Looks like 15:58 last 5k.

Take your petty little argument somewhere else.
That is going to help? Like watching El Guerrouj run 3:43 mile is going to help them too? Huh?
craig leon 2:13:5x nice PR for him, i think he's had a bunch of PRs in a row
Teg: 02:12:29
Ritz 2:09:47 (for 5th?)
Tegenkamp 2:12:29 (10th). He did 5:46 pace for the last 2.2k.
Craig Leon 2:13:53

The difference is in the training. Mutai/Kipsang simulate 2:03 -2:04 pace (for almost the entire distance) in training whereas Tegenkamp is running 5:10 pace for half of his long "tempo" runs and then 4:50s the rest.
How the hell can you compete with guys running 4:42-3 miles for 26.2 miles with that kind of super conservative training? Our training methodologies have not caught up with the current racing scene.
Yeah, either that or Teg is not capable of either the training or racing paces that Mutai and Kipsang are capable of.
Get a clue please.

It's a marathon, anything can happen. Ritz was running a great race and then he blew up. He's not the only guy to fall apart today, that's just what happens sometimes. I'm sure he is as fit as he's ever been and I'm sure he thought he was ready to run fast. He was running very fast and then he ran out of steam, anyone who's had a bad marathon knows how that can happen. You go through 18 on pace feeling great the you hit 20 and everything goes to shit. It doesn't mean you're not fit, or that you were over hyping yourself. It's just what happens sometimes.

Perhaps if the interviewers asked some insightful questions the Kenyan winners would be able to give insightful answers

I believe it's just because they don't know English well. In the Moscow broadcast in my country they used an interpreter for the Kenyan athletes. They were very talkative then.
