Who?
kawauchi is only 26 how many sub 2:20 marathons does he have so far, can he get doug kurtis record for most sub 2:20's which is 75??
as for teg as a 12:58 for 5000 and 27:28 for 10000, he really should be capable of 2:07 maybe dip under 2:07, but americans really lag in the marathon compared to how they do at 1500, 5000 and 10000 and because this is his first marathon i say about 2:08.50-2:09.20.
teg and the schumaker group are the anti kawauchi group, whereas kawauchi probably over races, teg and the schumaker group under race.
That would be "no."
That was a very solid debut by Teg who has had an utterly awesome career so far and he has a great future in the marathon. If he converts his track speed to the marathon correctly he could well run at least sub 2 07. He also could use the endurance gained by his marathon training and move back down to the track next season off a spring marathon and crush out some seriously fast track pbs a la Lydiard style. So he has plenty of options to look forward to.
Kawauchi is such a bad ass, each of his seasons of the last few years has looked like the entire career of an elite marathoner in terms of the volume of top level performances. Is he going to be running New York? On tough course like that he could well seal his first marathon major victory and inspire a generation of amateur runners to take up the challenge of serious running...
