I have been experiencing on and off symptoms of fatigue and weakness over the past few years. I've had blood work done numerous times and have been tested for mono a couple times as well. Everything is usually normal except for my bilirubin levels, which have been consistently high. The doctor looked into possible liver conditions, but in the end he diagnosed me with Gilbert's Syndrome, which apparently 5-10% of the population has. He says it isn't treatable and, for the most part, doesn't affect the people that have it.
I've read a couple articles about people with Gilbert's Syndrome experiencing fatigue and weakness and was wondering if anyone in the letsrun community has Gilbert's Syndrome and if it affects your training. Also, if it does affect your training, how do you combat it? I've heard a healthy diet and hydrating are particularly important.
I know some elite athletes, cyclists and tennis players, have Gilbert's Syndrome and have spoken about feeling fatigued, but there really isn't a lot of research out there on the disease.
Thank you.
