Anyone know what shoes Kipsang was wearing when he broke the world record? They were Adidas and I know he has previously worn the Adios Boosts but the shoes he wore in the marathon didn't look like the Adios boosts.

Word in the industry is that adi is doing damage control, as Kipsang lost the Olympic Gold because of the Boost. Turned too soft at his speed/heat and became a marshmallow, thus no energy return.
Actually, the same what a lot are saying on this board so no surprise he went back to the adios 2.
Everyone on this site is wrong -- Kipsang is clearly wearing the Adios Boost, not the Adios II:

He was wearing the Adios 2. End of the thread.

Now I know you're just being stupid to elicit a response. Yes, at the VIRGIN LONDON MARATHON he wore the Adios Boost.
At the BMW BERLIN MARATHON, where he set the WR this past weekend in 2:03:23, he wore the Adios 2,

Can you please stop using DC Racer as your name? You are insulting all the great guys and girls at the GRC or Pacers that I run with.

Strange how Kimetto and Mutai both went under 2:04 in Chicago using the Adios Boost marshmallows.
Strange how it wasn't a World Record, and word is that adidas is now FORCING it's elite to wear the Boost due to fall-out.

Inform yourself before you speak so stupidly.
The Adios Boost is a completely different shoe from the Boost, and not a marshmallow at all. It is in fact very similar to the Adios 2.

WTF are you talking about. Boost is not even a shoe. Boost is what they call the material. There is the Adios Boost, the Energy Boost and the Adistar Boost.
We ere both talking about the Adios Boost. When I used the word marshmallow I was being sarcastic though. I currently own a pair of Energy Boost and actually like it. I plan on buying the adios boost when I get a 20% code from roadrunnersport.
I have ran several road races on the Adios 2 and tried on a pair of Adios Boosts the other day... Completely different shoe and I totally see the 'marshmallow' comparison.
The Adios Boost is a different shoe, the things I liked about the Adios 2 are gone.
I find the NB1400 a bit softer of a feel than the Adios 2 and the Adios Boost is far softer than both.
That race is also in October, not the middle of the summer...
I have now raced a 12K in the Adios Boost and the Adios II is still my training shoe. The Boost has a softer upper - much softer which I actually like - but the sole feels just as rigid as on the old model. Definitely no marshmallow feeling. If anything, the Boost feels heavier in the heel which I'm not thrilled about as I'm not a heel striker so all that material is just wasted weight. According to my kitchen scale, the Boost is about 5 grams heavier than the II (men's 10.5) and assuming the upper is lighter, I lean toward the conclusion that the Boost material in the heel is quite a bit heavier than the previous midsole. I still have an unused paif of the Adios II and I'm serioulsy in two minds about which shoe to wear in an upcoming marathon.
