India buys NYC marathon
India buys NYC marathon
Nice one. They delivered an app for the last NYCM (2011) that broke down under the server requests, so live tracking was not possible.
Well, I guess an outsourcing company isn't worse than a bank/insurance (ING).
Press release:

LetsRun.com addition: There is another release here as well:
This country already long outsourced the winning of the New York City marathon to Africa. Nothing too wrong with sending the name to India as well.
We should be positive about this. We are always saying we need other sponsors for the sport. This is a prime example. Without the big title sponsor, you can kiss a good elite race away.

One more thing. ING was a dutch company. No one got mad about that, did they?
I'll admit viscerally it bothers me a bit but it shouldn't I guess.
Great. We let a Muslim in the White House, we Let a Muslim win Miss America, and now the great American race is now owned by Muslims. What's next?

I don't think that word means what you think it means.
And the owner of Tata is either American or white...
Tatas. Heh heh.

Plenty of Muslims are patriotic American citizens - why shouldn't they be able to do these things?

Bodacious.
Indian dude, lives in Mumbai. Doesnt look like the marathoning type
Are they kicking in enough money that registration fees might drop below $200? The ultimate 1%er race, even before the expense of staying in NY is counted.

Any wonder India is taking over the sponsorship?

Does NOBODY realize that Tata also sponsors Berlin!@#$?!@ To reference Zoolander, I feel like I'm taking crazy pills here.
Does NOBODY also realize that India is a largely Hindu nation?
Do your homework, Tata also owns jaguar and land rover. Last year the Tata group pulled in close to $100 Billion on the top line.

You got a few people to respond with legit angry comments, but I laughed.
Wait, an outsourcing company wants to send money TO the United States to sponsor a race HERE and people are complaining?
After an outsourcing bank sponsored the race for years (if you put money into that bank, it was essentially leaving the US). Sure, it's to gain attention, but so far the only thing agreed to is to send $$ in this direction.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
