Symmonds is going to increase his mileage and lose a few pounds to become a great 1500 runner. I'm curious if this will also benefit his 800.
Wow, that is a big surprise. I think Symmonds is definitely better suited for the 1500m, but he had only just tweeted that he wanted to break the american record for the 800m. I do think Symmonds can run a 3:30 with 1500m specific training, considering right now should be nearly the peak of his career.
Also, I suppose 3:34.55 is a far more competitive time (esp. for someone who doesn't do the 15) than a 1:42.95.
I could wonder if this could really help him take a stab at the American 800m record later on next season. he ran a few 1500s earlier in the year, then started to roll in August over 800m.
