I don't understand my feelings. Farah seems like a smashing bloke, but I was thrilled to see him lose today. I think he has ben "laying it on a bit thick" in some races, and this was a relief. I don't know.

You basically posted the exact same thread as me at the exact same minute. That's freaky.
you're a leftist, you envy him because he has like life that you want, your painful awareness of his success makes you happy when he loses
You probably are a racist that hates Muslims.
"Smashing Bloke"????? Fake Englishman fail! People in GB only talk like that in the movies.
Maybe because of his (to put it kindly) slightly less than genuine smiley "I'm a very likeable guy, please throw more money my way" persona fashioned for the cameras? I tend to associate this sort of phoniness with American public figures/celebrities (no offence) I know it's his living, but he might as well start panhandling for more sponsorship/endorsements. Nothing spontaneous about this guy, even the gracious interviews and name-dropping sound rehearsed. If he runs London next year and thinks he can't win, he'll drop out rather than hurt his market value.
Just a visceral feeling, I could be wrong.
You're happy because he ruined the 5k and 10k events and now he finally lost and his lack of endurance has finally been exposed. Now everyone will resume to running fast races hopefully.
Happy to hear Kenny say he dropped back to manipulate Mo to pick up the pace. Kenny was so incredible to watch on the track. I don't enjoy watching Mo run. I respect him but the pussification of the 5 and 10 this summer was pathetic. The marathon guys are going to eat Mo alive. My guess is that Haillie and Bekele worked together.

Indeed. The old timers showed the kids how it's done.

If it's an act he keeps it going when he's out in public in the UK for all the people who stop him for a photo.
Perhaps that's what you are used to in the US audience? I don't know. To me Mo seems like a great guy but not particularly interesting to be interviewed as he isn't all that articulate.
I really don't think Farah has to panhandle for "endorsements" though. He could pretty much appear in a chocolate bar commercial for half a million dollars if he felt like it.

I wouldn't get too excited. He wasn't even trying - probably 75% effort.
It's kind of ridiculous for anyone to claim Mo "ruined" the 5K and 10K. He's not the guy who kept Kenyans and Ethiopians from running fast times in major championships to beat him.
I didn't say he ruined it. I said it was pussified. Some people loved it. I thought it was boring. I would rather watch a repeat of Geb and Tergat. Can you honestly say the last 2 yrs of championship racing has been exciting?

The Kenyans and Ethiopians are irrelevant. Farah kept himself from running fast times. He could have run faster if he wanted.

You are not a true distance running fan then. It is more exciting to have 8 guys in the race with 400m to go. Do you really blame Farah for running the race that will best allow him to win?
Same reason I'm happy: drugs. And the more I see Salazar and his gang going to the press these days and coming off like Lance, the happier I get to see them all lose.
Travis Tygart an Jeff Novitsky: Go get 'em.

coach d... you have proof of this or do all winners cheat in your eyes.
Mo is so hyped up that every decent person has to dislike him. If only for the sake of balance.

You are the person who doesn't like anyone who wins. There are others who only like winners. Isn't psychiatry interesting?
