IU grad Andy Bayer signs with Nike and to train with Jerry's boys. What do you guys think about this, can he be a future star for U.S. distance running or not? Olympics, World champs?

I know Jerry has some younger guys in the group but I can't help but wonder why didn't try to go with Alberto given the success of his group.

Not everyone that goes to Salazar runs well. He has done well with top talent like rupp, mo, centro Cain, but there is no depth in his group for 13:10 to 13:15 type runners
Does anyone have any insight on how much his contract was or what a typical contract for his caliber gets?
My guess is the $40,000-$80,000 guaranteed with much more written in for performance. (PR's, USA placing, World/OG teams)
Some of you are going to say $80,000 is too much but he is a NCAA Champion at 1500 and possesses solid PR's at 1500 and 5000.

A lot of Jerry's athletes are in the $25-$40k range and have to pay living expenses out of that.
Well, there is the Big Ten connection. Andy has been racing at Wisconsin at the Invite and at multiple Big Ten events where he would run in to various members of the group. Seems like a potentially good fit. The group should help him continue to get in to appropriate races in Europe; he might even get in to the USATF meet...
