She caused it. Hate to say so but it's pretty clear. Clipped the runner in front of her.

Hard to run when you have like 20+ runners in a slow 1500. Sadly, they have to learn to say no to entrants or make a b race.

Or the better runners actually make a race of it so that the runners get stringed out.
12 is plenty. I'd even say 10.
Simpson and a few others made a big deal about making sure tbe rabbit got out hard, talked to the race directer etc. Then they went out let the rabbit run away from them and jogged the first two laps. That was embarassing, not just for simpson but for the sport.

wrong.. pretty clear the runner in front of her kicked her own calf and went down.
Unfortunately, that's the last of Simpson we'll probably see. With her age and accumulated injuries, I doubt she'll be back and she has hinted as much.
Looked like that. Wouldn't say it was clearly that... In any event just unlucky.
I think too much is made these days of the idea "just be competitive and the times will come." Sometimes, but there's another idea, one that was prominent in "Risky Business": sometimes you've just got to say 'what the eff'," and then go for it.

What are you talking about? She finished 2nd in the 1,500m in Moscow and broke 15 minutes in the 5,000m recently without training for it.
Here's a better link.
Clearly was not going to run sub 4 or even close to it, even without a fall.

I didn't see it that way, but it is hard to tell. The girl on her outside was throwing elbows and just being bounced around in there, and this caused the fall. Note that the woman in front of Simpson did not break stride. But is is hard to tell from the video angle
With 400 meters to go in a Sit and Knit W1500, Murphey's Law may crash the party. The Law has about 100 meters to drop in and say hello, and it never gets held up in traffic.
Yes. She was sitting on Aregawi's shoulder the entire race. Things bunched up with a lap to go. Simpson got separated from Aregawi, panicked, moved up and clipped the runner in front of her.
Simpson goes down along with a bunch of other runners. It happens, but to the WC Silver medalist??? Ruined the race. I wish Jenny would have taken the race to the pack like she did in Moscow. Now that was a Simpson I could learn to love again. But????
She will be back next year. Looking forward to her running as part of the USA 4x1500 relay.. Simpson, Martinez, Cain, and ???
USA mens and womens 4 x 800 should be able to hang in an exciting matchup. Even a mens 4 x 5K would find the USA hanging,Rupp, Lagat, Jaeger, ????
I enjoyed the meet but now the season has really settled into the sunset..I wish I could excited about college football...not happening.
Now have to look forward to 2014 Indoor World and outdoor World Relay Champs. Geez I hope I get to cover both events...
Watching this race, I just can't feel sorry for her. Asking the organizers for a faster rabbit and pace, then taking it out that slow in a field of 20, and jamming the runner in front of her by forcing herself inside....what did she think was going to happen??
