She still looks pretty good. How old is she now? Around 50, I'd imagine.
Her birthday is August 4, 1958, so she just turned 55.
i've seen 70 year olds with better faces, yuck.

You do know that you are looking at pictures of her in her 30's right? Try the last one where she looks all of 65 or 70...
Probably the result of too much sun and too much scowling in her life.
Doper. Whiner.
Slaney is the last middle/long distance runner to ever appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated which was in 1985. That's kind of sad, really. There were quite a few distance runners on the cover of SI in the 1950's-60's.
Are you kidding!!! First of all, she wasn't all that good looking in her prime but had nice legs. Look at those legs in the picture of her with the green shirt. Is that scar tissue from all of the compartment syndrome surgerys she had?
She once attended my high school league cross-country finals to see her then Robert Redford-looking boyfriend from another high school compete in the varsity race.
She was 16 at the time and not too good looking, but she was a running star and it was cool of her to attend our lowly league final.
She seems like she would really flip out if someone pulled into her spot in a Wal-Mart parking lot.
Here are some pics of Slaney before age and the sun shredded her skin.

American art indeed. Boing!
She is 55 f@cking years old for god's sake. Let's take a look at most 55 year olds and see if they still look cute like when they were in their 20's. At least she has kept her shape and her weight down...unlike 75% of obese American women.

She's most likely post-menopause. For most women, the looks really start to deteriorate at that point.
I will always be a Big Decker fan....it was fun time to be a fan!
BTY...she was bigger name than Pre (for the masses).....back in those days.

Exactly. I was shocked. She looks 70 in that picture
The physical change that most caught my eyes was what appears to be complete deterioration in her calf muscles in her current photo.
Throw on a layer of makeup and she'd look better than most any other 55 year old (absent her calf muscles which endured many surgeries when she was running). Slaney likes to live au natural (absent the Hollywood-type face-lifts, callogen, and heavy makeup). To each their own.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
