I'm a grad student at a school in a pretty populated area. I regularly see girls/women out on runs, but very few of the women I've met can maintain something like 7-8 min/mile on a typical run. Now, I understand that this is a pretty good pace for a woman.. any woman that can maintain this pace (and can talk during it) can probably run at least 19 min for the 5k which is a pretty good time.
I just think the idea of dating someone who can run with you on easy days would be fun. Unfortunately, I know that in our school running club (as well as some of the running clubs in the area that aren't filled with much older people) there are only a handful of females that can run with the guys at this pace on a given day. For those of you who date runners (and I'd love to hear from both men and women), does being able to run with your significant other help your relationship? And by run I mean, not having to run so slow that it compromises your training (I think most of us would agree 7-8 min/mile is just fine).
