War is good for the economy.
War is good for the economy.
Earnings Scorecard: For Q1 2018 (with 13 companies in the S&P 500 reporting actual results for the quarter), 11 S&P 500 companies have reported a positive EPS surprise and 10 have reported a positive sales surprise.
Howard Silverblatt, Senior Index Analyst at S&P Dow Jones Indices, pointed out recently that “more than 20% of S&P 500 issues provided at least a 4% tailwind to EPS via reduced share counts.” Clearly, at least some part of EPS growth, and subsequent equity market growth, has had something to do with decreasing denominators in the EPS formula, as opposed to true earnings growth.
A small part obviously.

Yes that is a point. I wonder why the market struggled this week?

But the other guy said earnings are growing. Why else would you buy on the dip?

I fear it’s beyond you.
I agree with Igy. President Trump has the economy humming on all cylinders. He knows what is best for us and we should trust him unequivocally.
I feel like a lot of people are just waiting for an excuse to start a big sell off and if the Dow sinks more then people will just declare it time for a bear market and a self fulfilled prophecy will ensue. Is that possible?

Read this buddy:
https://wolfstreet.com/2018/03/24/so-is-the-trade-war-crushing-stocks/I don’t recommend putting too much value into what that author wrote. He’s right about overvaluation, etc, but completely clueless about market triggers.
Personally, I think the author is correct and you are wrong.

You are in the minority for good reason.
The majority follow the herd.
No, the majority ARE the herd.
Glad you agree you are in the herd.
