Thought Wheating, Sowinski and Leslie were running?
Anyone know what happened? I see Lagat beat Leer in the 3000.

You're probably looking at the B race.

Is 4th place Daniel Kipchirchir Komen or is there another Daniel Komen on the scene? Besides Daniel K. Komen and, obviously, the original legend Daniel Komen, Iaaf lists two other Daniel Komens who are marathoners (and who might even be the same people, I wasn't looking carefully).
And, I never realized until I just checked some stats that Daniel K. Komen was so young when he ran all those fast times. It seems he is still running decently fast these days, though.
If that's him in the result, then congrats to Will Leer. Even in a sit and kick affair or some odd pacing, Daniel K. Komen should, in decent form, not be easy to beat, by most elite Americans, in the mid-d.

Didn't see the race but seems like an ok result for Wheating.
Gebrhiwet only 0.3 slower than Sowinski in his last 1000m of his 5000m at WC. Faster than Batty...
Not that Sowinski and Batty were that slow, but Gebrhiwet is just that fast...
Forgive me for my ignorance, but isn't that a rather large field for a single 1,000m track race? It's only 200m longer than an 800m, and I don't see ay indication on the meet website and results that it was run in two heats. Seems like more than an optimal amount of athletes for a proper 1,000m race.

Wheating has not had an A level performance in a couple of years, I would imagine he can't get into certain races.
ouch for gregson. he's the australian version of german fernandez.

You mean as he did today?
It's definitely not the great Daniel Komen, who's about Lagat's age at the point. There have been 2 other Komens over the last 10 years, both of whom are good, but have had touble puting together good years back to back and the off years have been the Olympic and WC cycles. And, there are close to a dozen Kipchirchirs that have been on the circuit for last decade.
Yeah, I know it's definitely not THE Daniel Komen, who has long retired and put on some pounds. I never realized there were so many Daniel Komens, and so many--supposedly--Daniel Kipchirchir Komens, at that. I wonder why Iaaf doesn't list more of them? If what you are saying is true, then it approaches humorous absurdity--a Kenyan army of very good distance runners with the same name. If you have any links to this vast world of Daniel Komens, feel free to share them! hehe.
solid result for wheating. didn't he do something like this last year or the year before as well around this time?
