The "dive" was pitiful.
Did she think she was the wabbit?
The flower in her hair is creating too much air resistance. She would've got bronze without the flower.

Apparently so.
She should have employed 'smart' tactics like all of the European runners have been doing in the distance races in order to ensure their success. Oh wait...
splits?
You think 1:57 is slow for her, or what?
She had no chance against a fit Savinova, the Kenyan PR'd by 2 seconds and Martinez was about equal. She ran the best race she could, but others were better.

She is a terrible rabbit. She can't run even splits.
What is the male equivalent of a 56/62?
49/55?
And Montano certainly isn't the female Rudisha which just makes it worse.
Her 400 PR is 52.09 so not like she's slow.
56 is exactly how fast a 52.09 400 runner should go out. It's 93 percent of 400 race pace, the equivalent of 50.5 for a 47-second 400 runner.

You're an idiot. That's a freaking myth. Every athlete is different. Was it exactly the time a 52.09 400 runner should go out after heats and semi's???????????????
The proof is in her RESULTS. SPLAT.
She didn't do too poorly, but her tactics suggest she could have won a medal. She does not race. She runs the WC final as if it was a solo time trial.
26.18 was the dagger in her own back.
Misheard, actually 26.80, still a mortal wound.

She wasn't "diving". Her legs crapped out on her.
If she (and her coach) think that time trialing gives her the best chance of a medal then fair enough. But she has to be fresh for the final. There's no excuse for the way she runs the rounds.
In her heat most of the girls had never even broken 2 minutes. If she can't beat this level of athlete off a slow pace then she needs to have a serious look at her training.
My opinion; she is almost there.
She is not lacking in basic speed, so she should concentrate on some 1,000m training/racing, perhaps a few 1,500s mixed in too.
Then return to the 800, open about 1/2 second to 1 second slower (around 57), and she should be right on target to finish strong.
Doing the same thing as always, expecting the same result. Every time, the fans know what is going to happen. She just gives everybody something to run after.

Having just watched it, I would agree. They crapped out about a dozen strides before the line and she just couldn't make it to the line.
Des Linden: "The entire sport" has changed since she first started running Boston.
