It's not a matter of putting down Cain, but rather balancing the recognition, particularly noting the accomplishments that matters most. It's almost like Ajee ceased to exist the past 6 months, while Cain was marketed to near over-exposure under Nike INC and Salazar.
Hey guy, how exactly was Cain "marketed" by Nike and Salazar?

yeah my mistake, i hadn't noticed that until i saw the slower replay from the front. very blatant, in another country would have been a DQ, but i don't think anyone even contested it.
does anyone notice that wilson has the build and stride if a 1500m runner?
unlike laura roesler, who definitely has a 400/800 stride and body, wilson looks and runs more like the east african 1500m runners.
even though she runs 1:58, i'm saying she has more natural talent for the 1500m.
i doubt her training group will pusher that way, but i think she has the potential to be among world leaders in the 1500m, and could run sub-4 1500's in the future.
if this sounds odd, just spend some time looking at her footplants, stride, size, and overall anatomy.
very good 800m runner...even better future 1500m runner.
Discussed the foul on another post. Wilson should have been 5th. Here's the video where you can clearly see the blatant elbow and pushing of Wilson over the final meters, throwing her off balance.
Yes, Ajee should have been 1:57.98 or 99.
The Russian should have been disqualified. No doubt about it.
Great run by Ajee, but really that's more than likely just a rented record as Mary Cain has 2 more years to take it down.
And people griping about contact in an 800? Really? Did you ever run the race? Middle distance is full of contact. If you can swap elbows with the big dogs then stay on the porch with the puppies.
*can't
It's not that easy to run 1:58.21,Cain needs to win a world title before the comparison.
Wilson has two.

Contact to defend one's space from someone invading it (example: Simpson's elbow of Cain) is legal. Veering out of one's direct forward movement so that it impedes another runner who is moving directly forward (example: Poistogova with Wilson) is very common over the last 10-20 meters and is rarely called. If one or both had gone down, the officials would have had little choice but to DQ Poistogova.
No one is griping about contact itself. Your post is a red herring.
As for Wilson's "rented" record, your cutesie spin should impress no one. If you want to play that game, Cain "rented" the AJR from Wilson who, several weeks later got it back. If Cain does not prefer to run the 800 because it is not in her "comfort zone" so be it.
Furthermore, Wilson's Junior status is not over.

LR posters: on your marks, set, drool.
There's nothing cutesy about calling out people who don't get the nature of what commonly goes on in middle distance races. I've heard Americans gripe about the contact in Europe and it makes me laugh. It'd be comparable to complaining about trading paint in NASCAR. You all do realize that you're comparing a 19 year old to a 17 year old, right? There is a big difference. Not taking anything away from Ajee, but Mary has demonstrated a far greater range which only Mary Decker Slaney has shown and when it's all said and done will most certainly have global SENIOR titles which far outstrip a World Junior title.
i'll be interested to see how montano runs in stockholm.
this is the first time Ajee has had the AJR so saying that Cain rented it from her doesn't make any sense. I don't know when Ajee's birthday is, but I assume she won't have time to improve upon that time before she turns 20 (i'm assuming she's done for the season now?). Meanwhile Cain has until May 2016 to improve by 1.3 seconds to get it back. Most likely Cain will put the record down to 1:57.high. I wouldn't be at all surprised if she gets real close to that record next year just after turning 18.
But totally sick race by Ajee. At World's she made the jump from former high school phenom to legit top international athlete by making the final and setting a second and a half PR in the final!

You are correct. Wilson did not have the AJR. I realized that immediately after my posting. Wilson's Junior status ends on December 31, 2013. She turns 20 next May.
What was also impressive about Wilson at the WC was her efficiency in managing the rounds. She secured dedicated places to advance in both the prelims and semis, and with almost minimal effort required to do it.
I am not questioning Cain's talent. I live near Bronxville and have been watching her compete since 2010. I felt sorry for the girls she competed against, and have often wondered how many -- some with considerable talent -- gave up track in despair after a race with Cain.
I might point out that Agee is a bit older than Cain, but I like this posters thought: let's be excited and proud of both of them. When we're sitting on the couch watching finals, it's easy to forget what it takes to get there. Both these teenagers had to meet qualifying standards, get through rounds at Nationals, finish top three at Nationals, survive heats and semis at Worlds... and then compete in the WC final. Enormous accomplishment for both of them.
great race from Wilson - massive breakthrough. And I like that she shut her mouth about the belt she got from the russian - not a whiner, is she.
FWIW, canova says she is an early favorite for gold in Beijing and Rio:
"However, also if Martinez and Montano today had a best placement, the real American hope for the future in this event in the junior Ajee’ Wilson, born on 8th May 1994, who bettered the American Junior Record with 1:58.21, after winning World Youth Championships in 2011 and World Junior Championships in 2012.
Also if she has good speed, naturally has a very strong aerobic base, how demonstrated by her PB for 3000m : 10:13.41 (nothing of special but…. In 2007, when she was only 13 !).
For that reason, I think Ajee’ Wilson can be a big shot for Gold medal in the next Olympic, going already for something important in 2015, when WCh will be in Beijing."

Yeah, surprised that slipped through after 2 or 3 elbows to the midsection right before the finish. That was ridiculous. I thought this was track and field and not professional wrestling. Russian should have been dq'ed. Maybe no one filed a protest.
That Russian was almost comical, rattling from lane to lane like a rat in a can, swinging her elbow like she was chopping wood.
to be fair to poisto, montano was basically a wall right in front of poist, slowing all the time - montano was slowing so fast that poisto thoght she would run over montano. So poisto had to move into ajee...else she runs right up and into montano.

"So poisto had to move into ajee"...and interfere with Wilson, who was also moving up on Montano. But at that point Wilson had already established a path wide of Montano and Poistogova had not.
