CENTRO!
CENTRO!
What was the finish order???????
1. kiprop
2. centro
3. south African
4. kenyan
Given Kiprop's dominance this year, it is as good a result as can be expected. He was right there, but got boxed. Centro is the model of consistency. He put himself in a great position, but may be kicking himself for being that close.
I think Americans will never win any event from 800m to marathon again, always just silver or bronze. I think they should work more on their mental aspects because they can never deliver their promises in big races (Centro for example).

Kicking himself for that close? Was anyone on that track finishing faster than Asbel?

Not sure he got "boxed" in the sense that he couldn't make a move that he wanted to make. Rather, he was sitting on Kiprop, who had a clear path, and was the overwhelming favorite. Pretty sure he was right where he wanted to be and it was the ideal spot for anyone who wasn't Kiprop.

5 years ago people like you were saying that an American would never medal in an event 800-marathon. Gold will come eventually, and the. People like you will complain that Americans can't win diamond league races or something.
I hope your name, "your dumb" was said tongue in cheek. Otherwise, this would be highly ironic.

Congrats to Centro. and to Ashton Eaton, and all the Ducks who know WTF they are doing. In 4th grade Centro was already better at racing intelligently that the most famous Duck ever was. Go back and watch the what not to do lesson of Steve "I have no idea what I'm doing" Prefontaine. We revere this guy and he had to be one of the dumbest, worst racers of all time. He may have been a favorite 4 years later and he would have found a way to fall off the podium again.
It's a championship race - if its less than a marathon you better work on that last 200 or 100.
