So far, of 14 running golds awarded, 13 have gone to people of African descent. Only the w 400h has gone to anyone else.

It is dehumanizing to reduce a person to little more than skin color - which is what you are doing. It doesn't matter if the skin is black, white, or whatever.
Many of your "Africans" have never set foot in Africa, nor have their parents ever set foot in Africa. And many of your "Africans" have other ethnic lineages in their background. Finally, a gold medal performance does not come solely from the efforts of the individual gold medal winner. He or she has benefited by the support and knowledge of friends, family, and coaches along the way.
Why didn't you include the field events in your tally? (Answer: doesn't reinforce your attitude?)
We are all of African descent.
How about the USA's 14 medals to second place Kenya with 8?

nice pc blather
as you know, field events are the provenance of rich countries - like swimming, you can't be much of a pole vaulter in a poor place without any equipment. or a hammer thrower. or a discus thrower. or a high jumper. I mean really - do you think before you post or do you just look up facts in your pc handbook and repost?
Do you not think that it is at last noteworthy that the sons and daughters of africa win virtually every running race? interesting at all? historical note, maybe?

+1
Many of African descent live in what you call the rich countries - USA, UK, Sweden, Canada, Germany, France, etc - so do you think before you post or just assume that all those of African descent live in abject poverty? Have you heard that the president of the United States is of African descent? All of which goes to say that analyzing the world by race is a very limited and limiting metric.
The "limited metric" is pretty damn accurate for track races.
That being said, letsrun sure does spew a lot of ugly, hateful, racist $hit. See poster below your post. Pathetic.

Meanwhile Africans only score 70-85 on IQ tests. 15-30 points lower than non-africans.
Sadly no one can say REALITY anymore.
I hesitate to respond to you as it seems that your mind is made up, but a quick look around reveals your premise to be faulty. There are many brilliant people of African descent in all walks of life and fields of endeavor. Denying that is denying reality.
Africans score 70-85 on IQ tests set by non Africans. You could not score 50 on an African IQ test based on how to survive in the jungle or deal with a lion while herding cattle barefoot in the savannas.IQ tests are subjective, and biased based on the examiners life experience

Different species? How dumb can you get?
all Africans are not great distance runners..they come from a small area of the continent and are clearly genetically gifted..despite anything anyone cares to say. it takes more than training to be this good..or coaches and science could make up the difference...it can't.
how many male white runners have gone under 13 for the 5k and under 8min for the steeple? despite the very best in science, coaching and nutrition?
why do people have to be so defensive on all sides about this? just statistically, does it make sense that all these medals and WRs are going to a small area of the continent? What does this tell you?
I'm not taking away their hard work and motivation to succeed, it doesn't just happen.
a white runner winning a distance race in the Olympics is the exception. Rupp did it, and look what it took. look at the depth of talent coming out of Kenya and Ethiopia. new incredible talents yearly. who do we have after Rupp to contend with the Yenews and Kiprutos of next year?
can a white distance runner contend on the world stage? Highly unlikely. And that's just a fact...stats don't lie.

Do you mean IQ tests taken in a part of the world where blacks were systematically enslaved, splintered and denied access to education for almost 400 years? The last living slave died as recently in 1971. Do you think that just maybe, those effects are still being felt? This is not a matter of intelligence as you may think. Eventually, it will all even out. Blacks will score higher on the IQ tests created by whites and whites will grow less ignorant and racist.
Here is a lil tidbit for you.
"Estimates indicate that a disproportionate percentage of black students at elite universities are immigrants or children of immigrants. Nigerian immigrants have the highest education attainment level in the United States, surpassing every other ethnic group in the country, according to U.S Bureau Census data."
No, it means he's an ignorant, hate spewing racist.

ok, now it is 15 of 16 golds in running events won by people of african descent.
any comments on how this affects the future of the sport, or of other sports?

This is nothing new. I'm surprised there is a thread about this. Don't look for this to change anytime soon. I'd just enjoy the races if I were you. BTW, it doesn't affect the sport anymore than the NBA being more than 80% black or the NFL being more than 60% black affect those sports.

Reggi Nytrid wrote:What's your point? We're very selective about which Nigerians we allow into this country. Is it really surprising that the top .2% of their population that we actually allow to immigrate are intelligent and successful? Of course not. Ability is distributed along a bell curve, and there are always outliers at each end.
The problem is that certain groups (i.e. Africans) have a very small percentage of their population that would be considered of even moderately above average intelligence (when compared to human beings), though they have a comparatively large percentage of gifted runners. That's why they dominate in track events, but rape babies to cure AIDS and live in mud huts. It's all a rich tapestry.
Hopefully you're not reproducing that ignorance.
Yes, acknowledging reality is "ignorant".
