Whatever, bro. If you wouldn't treat Isinbayeva like a 3-holed wonder then you must be playing for the other team yourself.
High five, bro

Disappointing.
She's a hero of mine.
Knowing some ladies of Russian descent, I realize that it's a bit of a religion thing. Russians are mostly orthodox. If you're raised that way, how will you ever learn differently?
Hard to blame the people themselves if they speak out for what they feel to be the right thing, either way, but it sucks extra to be born gay in Russia. It's not a choice, 1 in 15 in Russia are born gay and life for them sucks worse than had they been born elsewhere.
lol guys i have like 2 black friends that means that im totally tolerant and have the right to join the kkk because its balanced out by my black friends. yeahh I'm sure your "friends" really love how you defend homophobic opinions. Yes, she's allowed to have an opinion but we're also allowed to judge her for that opinion. How about straight people keep what they do in the privacy of their own homes out of my face, thank you.

Is there proof that people are born gay?

Of course, just look in the mirror.
Isinbayeva
It's unrespectful to our country. It's unrespectful to our citizens because we are Russians. Maybe we are different from European people and other people from different lands. We have our home and everyone has to respect (it). When we arrive to different countries, we try to follow their rules.

[quote]Oh, my god. I can't believe she said that. It's bad. For Yelena to come out and say we are normal, standard Russian citizens — I'm paraphrasing here — and we don't stand for that.
So it's fine for him to have the entitlement of saying what he wants in a foreign country, but not okay for her to say what she wants in her homeland.
Actually, yes. There have been many studies done on the activational and developmental effects of hormones, which have been shown to lead to certain displays of behavior characteristic of homosexuals and heterosexuals, before and after birth.
how did we regress to the point that 'homophobe' is a word that's even taken seriously? What next - pedophiliaphobe?
You don't get it, do you?
The meaning of human rights, as the UN has decided, is that it's supposed to trancsend the laws of a particular country. Freedom of speech and the right to express your opinions and who you are, is something totally fundamental. People who don't understand this have not understood history and have no idea what it means to live under suppression.
Russia are heading backwards to the 1930:s. It is very scary.
Isinbayeva is a homofobic, we know this because the former swedish high jumper and world champion Kajsa Berquist (who is gay) lived in Monaco for many years close to Isinbayeva, and Bergquist has said in interviews that Isinbayeva was totally in chock when she found out that Bergquist was gay, and stopped talking to her.
Sorry for my bad english.
they are total obamanations. wrote:

HAHAHAHAHA, NATURE ITSELF CAN'T STAND HOMOS!!
Bisexual pregnant women must really give your brain a hard time.

The social pressure to enforce a conformity of view is operating equally strongly on Isinbayeva and on the people who have suddenly discovered that they now hate her for her views.
Exactly this.

People in Russia have the right to say they don't like gays.

Just as people in America have the right to say they don't like Russian-Americans. But, it does not follow that Russian-Americans should be denied rights because some people don't like them.
"Isinbayeva, a two-time Olympic champion, said in English. 'We just live with boys with woman, woman with boys.'"
Very nice.
What a paedophile!

The old "I believe in so & so" argument and therefore I demonstrate good character, courage and good judgment?
It's a horribly weak argument. Lot's of good people are misguided.
But she is still hot!
"What a bunch of BS on this thread. A world class athlete expressed support for her country's laws and called out those who came to her country and disrespected it."
We are not talking about traffic tickets here, Charlie. We are talking about suppression of a minority and the denial of human rights. A person should not be supported based solely on their support for their country's laws. If so, you would be defending those Germans that supported Nazi-based laws. I think you would agree that the underlying laws do matter.
You don't have any gay friends. You distantly know a few gay people. If you were actually friends, you would understand why this is a big deal.
You are a homophobe and you don't even realize it. Had to mention that female date that you brought to the gay bar lest anyone think you were experimenting.
Your line "just keep it there, thank you" is absolutely bigoted and insulting. Are heterosexuals forced to live in the closet? No! Of course not. But that is exactly how you want gay people to live.

Who said it was because they don't like them?
