Reported on Twitter and she isn't on the Startlists.
expect some more big names to drop. this is third hand info, but there is rumor that new tests covering a multitude of different new/old drugs will be instituted. again, this is totally 3rd hand.
Is there any Russian female runner that is not on drugs?

Down goes Zaripova?
Guess she caught that same nasty "cold" that forced Borzakovsky to withdraw.
Also Ghribi is out... Now it's Chemos's race to lose
What about the Ethiopians? All three of them super good, and Sofia Asseffa beat Chemos to the bronze in Olympics last year!
What a complete joke.
The World and Olympic champ pulls out of the champs in her home country 36 hours before the event and nobody says anything??
No statement from Russian Fed, no statement from IAAF, nothing on twitter that I can see from anybody official.
Nearly everything wrong with athletics in one story.

When are you here to post something positive and constructive about the sport -- if you don't like it -- go follow another sport.
This is a sport that has always broken news slowly, it's not the NFL or a huge Soccer league.
Patience if the key, and the news comes out. The news always comes out, we just need to remember to wait like we used to as adults. You're not always going to get everything on twitter instantly.
When we know the story, we know the story.
Go write the Russian Federation instead of bitching here.
So what you are saying is that it is too much to expect the Russian Federation to release a statement about Zaripova when they withdraw her from the event. I mean, she is a hometown athlete and an Olympic and World champ. Surely this is a big news for the Russian team.
It takes about 5 minutes to prepare and release: "We are disappointed to announce that Yuliya Zaripova has been forced to withdraw from the women's steeplechase in Moscow because of......"
You see, I think that would be very positive and constructive thing to do. It would help remove the aura of secrecy and suspicion. I happen to love the sport passionately. I want to see if flourish and all these things that stop that happening frustrate me greatly. Spectators and sponsors will continue to abandon athletics until the organisation shapes up.
An injury sustained this week hitting a hurdle in training this week is the stated cause.
Any steeplers out there? I was always too awkward (and frankly, too fat) to try the steeple.
Would you be jumping hurdles the Wednesday before a championship?

Of course you would. So would a hurdler do their jumps and a high jumper. Technical work and explosive work is likely to be the bulk of the last few training sessions in any elite training plan. It's how Carolina Kluft got injured prior to the 2005 world championships.
