Pretty sure Mo Farah is up there in terms of mental toughness. There are quite a few times where we've seen some "vivid" facial expressions on the home stretch. He's really, really trying.

Two things come to mind after reading these posts:
1) As fast as Mo has closed in slower races and as well as he has run at 1500m this season, it is still very likely that Gebremeskel could beat him. Gebremeskel (and others) are all very, very good. Mo is certainly not invincible.
2) However, despite the fact that Mo is not a man among boys, it is ridiculous for people to claim that he could not break 27 right now. I would guess that Mo thinks he could, Salazar probably thinks he could, and Renato Canova thinks so, as well. Are all these people deluded, biased, or just plain stupid?
Those people like "Bad Wigins" make absolutely no sense, and their arguments are completely illogical.
Mo is the favorite - Yes
Gebremeskel is very good and may beat Mo - Yes
Mo can't break 27:00 right now and is only a kicker - No
Mentally tougher? Leading that long does not prove he is mentally tougher. What were his reasons related to that race? It doesn't matter if you are shorter on talent and the will to win he will lose. No one has proven they can beat Farah at the moment when he is on top of his game. He is as good right now as he has ever been. Nice try Dejen. Here is your participation ribbon!
I realize Bad Wigins was on topic and it was I who was trolling. I am full of shit and apologize. I hang my head in the shame of my unregistered cowardice.

You would guess, you unregistered piece of chicken shit?
That's about all you can do, without anything in the real world indicating sub-27 form. "well, I bet he and his coach think so..."
Register a name and stick with it, I dare you. You'll learn to argue with facts instead of talking shit. The fact is Mo has run sub-27 once in his life, it was a long time ago, and his form has declined ever since over both 5k and 10k, including in rabbited time trials.
Are you kidding? Form declined? Wins gold medal. Runs sub 3:29. Mo doesn't run for time, moron. He runs to win. He wins. End of story. You don't know if he declined unless he ran regular maxed out races. The only thing he has run has shown no decline. Get over yourself. Mo will win again.
he is pretty tough. Remember when he raced Rupp indoors a few years ago in Boston, I think, and he ran like 5 laps in his socks.Have you ever run shoeless over a track? I bet there was no skin left on his feet an btw, he won.
All things being sort of equal, Mo has a better tactical sense. So he's the favorite.
Dejen, he's fantastic, he could walk away with gold, but he's simply not the favorite.
Alberto is savvy enough, and Mo too, to prepare to run well under 27:00, should it be necessary.
If the Kenyans are serious about taking it out hard, it's going to be a hell of a race.

Very true, Gebremeskel always finds himself running on the outside the last few laps. e.g. at World's in 2011, the last K was in 2:27 and Geb was in lane ~2 for all of it.
see
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBsVTAN4oPI&feature=player_detailpage&t=818I think if Lagat gets his hip healthy, he stands a good shot of outkicking Mo too...but it'll mean taking control of the race from the front during the last few laps, something that is usually Mo's M.O.
If someone wants to beat Mo, they're gonna have to make HIM run the bends on the outside...although if Gebremeskel can get back to his paris-2012 or New Balance 3k (2011) shape, he could beat him however he likes.
Mo will wilt if the pace is in the range of 26:50.
Mo can't break 27:00.
Mo will never run sub 27:00 again.

You are way off base, hombre. Ask Beto. Just ask him. He will confirm that Canova initiated a false flag operation in Iten to scare Mo, but it failed miserably. Check out Hyundai and Kim Il Sung connection. Free healing exercise, my friend.
Rupps going to win in a fast race. Mo is going to win in a medium or slow race.
Sub 26:50 Rupp wins
26:50 and up Farah wins.
