Regardless, 30:52 for 6 miles, even if it was a flat course is very fast for a debut from a middle distance runner. She will be the next "big thing" in American female distance running and perhaps internationally...

Exactly. Mile 3 slows most people down by anywhere from 15-30 seconds because of the hill, not to mention that mile 4 is difficult also!
Hahaha! Oh please. A great effort which she must prove on the track. I know those winds too BTW.
Don't be so skeptical. There's no way the Wharf to Wharf is a faster course than a track, so absolute WORST CASE scenario, Emily Infeld is in 31:55 track 10K shape, and that's assuming she would run the same pace on the track as on the roads with rolling hills.
What about the 30:58 by a 58 year old? Ran with his son it looks like who was just ahead of him. Last year he ran 42:33- what an improvement!
Bullshit about the 58 year old. That would smash age group records.
Heh heh, "doughy" describes very well what she looked like, next to other collegiate elites.
She has always shadowed Hasay and Reid, so 32-ish for 10K seems about right.

almost always a tailwind, that course is mostly west to east... 90% of the time the wind is blowing that way there.
I made a point of checking the surf as I ran down east cliff, and can assure you that it was glassy smooth. No wind whatsoever. NWS records coroborate this.
Infeld blew my doors off around mile 2.5. Solid race for her, I'm positive she could have hit the A standard in a stanford type race on this day.

It seemed to me that Infeld was always overshadowed in college by Jordan and Sheila.
Even though she was almost always demonstrably better on the track than Hasay at distances above 1500m.
Because she is boring.

She has a faster PR than Hasay in the 800, 1500, 3000, 5000, probably 10,000 if she actually runs one. At least she joined OTC, maybe they can give her a personality.
Word on the street is she's been training with Shalane Flanagan. This has probably taken her fitness to a new level, especially for longer events.
Put 6 miles in the title
Funny Infield will make more money this summer in her one road race than Hasay will all summer in Europe racing on the track.

i.e., very nice personality. On her twitter account, she gives a shout out to not only her teammates but her competitors. That is why her twitter account is filled with congratulations.
I wonder whether Shalane would have won the race if she had run and by how much? If a fit Shalane were in the race what would she have run?
Under 30:30?

Probably not. I imagine Hasay will get a bonus from Nike for making the World team that will trump Infeld's earnings from this race.
BTW, why are so many of these posts comparing Infeld to Hasay? Both are doing great and that's good for the sport. No need to knock one down when bragging about the other.
umm....ever heard of Emily Infeld?
When it's all said and done, Emily Infeld will own every American Record from the 5K to the marathon. Calling it now.
Emily didn't run USA"s because she was fried. Did you see her Oxy and San Diego ReRun? She didn't even hit the USA standard.
This is more indicative of how legit of a runner she really can be.
