27:4x for a road 10K right now for Solinsky. I would say that was realistic after his AR, but right now he's more likely to run 28-mid
Kosgei -Kenya
Neguse -Ethiopia
Gotcher-Santa Cruz
Solinsky -Portland
Oyugi -Kenya
Fernandez -DNS
The Wharf to Wharf is 6.0 miles, not a 10K. It is somewhat hilly/rolling, but the times are roughly equivalent to a track 10K for most runners.
So I don't think 27:40s is un-realistic for Solinsky, as it probably equates to about the same for a track 10K.
German Fernandez FTW!

this seems like the most reasonable prediction. Gotcher has home-town advantage, plus he knows the course ridiculously well.
there are significant hills in each mile. nothing too bad, but unless you've run a workout on the course, the hills can be deceptive and disrupt a race plan.
What will Solinsky and German run tomorrow?
I think Solinsky will win in a kick in 27:4x, a kenyan 2nd and German will finish 3rd in 28:10
Race starts in 4 minutes.
Here are some good pre-race articles I found. One by Jon Gugala on Bretth Gotcher wanting to be a hometown champ:

and one on the top 10 moments in race history:

Not a good day for Solinsky apparently:

What did Solinsky and Fernandez run?? I'm surprised Brett Gotcher beat them.

Did he race with headphones?
I ran the race today, saw all the elites in the warmup area. German was not there. Absolutely perfect racing weather- would highly recommend this one to anybody wanting to make a trip to CA. Similar depth to Bay to Breakers without all the BS.
I used to live right next to the course and never ran down that final hill so quickly. It's crazy to have that right at the end. Very well organized, but perhaps too many people in the 'Elite' corral.
