Caster Semenya Runs 2nd Race of 2013 - Wins But Only 2:04.48 7/21/2013 12:27PM Reply | Return to Index | Report Post
The first lap was 59, but we have no idea if Semenya went out that fast or not.

Semenyua ran 2:06 4 days ago in her first race and certainly hasn't raced well like her coach Maria Mutola thought she would.

I think she won't run any faster than she needs to.
If she'd show up to a race with a good bunny and WR legs, she's just go for the win, to get the money for her family.

Amazing that she's still running after what the sports community and authorities did to her. Much worse than a false positive. Most women in her position have just disappeared from the sport.

Semenya's first lap was around 61 - she wasn't even close to the pace keeper.

Here's the race (starts at 19 min), should be available also outside of Finland:

Pretty slow time for a college boy.

SHe'd probably get a lot of sympathy if she would just level with people instead of hiding behind medical privacy claims. That only nets her suspicion and derisive comments.

Exactly. She was a college student and couldn't understand her genetic advantage...and realize it wasn't fair to all the other women?

Medical privacy claims are legitimate, not something to "hide behind."

They are the same reason (most) runners don't disclose their use of thyroid supplementation and other medications with potential to enhance performance.

Way to argue against your own statement.

Surely it would be better for her to say, "I have such-and-such condition" and move on. She would feel better, the competition would feel better, and the insensitive comments would stop.

Unless she really shouldn't be competing against women. (See how this works?)

Thanks for the link. Is it just me, or is she holding back and kicking just enough to win? She was next to last at 600m, moved out to lane three, passed everyone, and then let up with 5m to go.
I don't know

Probably not me but I have to admit, I've tried hard to accept her as a "female" and for some reason after seeing the above link interview, I am having a hard time conceiving it. Judge me all you want but I'm seeing it like it is.

That's because he is a he, not a female.

I doubt it's at simple as that. 0.1% of all births are intersex. Think about it. That's a lot of people.

Wow. Thanks for that link. I'm sorry, but gotta go with Sesame Street Rules... one of these runners is not like the other. With all due respect, and knowing all elite athletes are genetic "freaks" in some way - it's clear that there is an intersex condition at best. I understand Caster identifies as Female, and if that's the restroom she wants to pee in, cool. But when there are two categories for races, and she clearly does not fit either... I'm sorry, life is not fair, and I'm sorry there is not an intersex category, but the female category is not the right choice.
