Great for her. Let's hope she makes the final in Moscow.

Phuckin A!
Well done. Kipp didn't need a set up male paced race in Portland.
She just run smart and tough.
Although the IAAF/NBCSC coverage only showed the "second pack" briefly, the announcers said that the second rabbit, Cherotich, stayed in the race after her leader duties were over. It looks like she was a great target for Kipp to get the A.
Maybe if she changed her name to a Kenyan style, Shalaya Kip, she'd run even faster. Or maybe she'll marry some dude named Rono and she could be Kipp-Rono.
Wetmore is a God. Jenny Simpson, Emma Coburn, and Shalaya Kipp our really our 3 best Steeplechase women.
fantastic! great job!
She's going to Moscow as she ran under 9:43.00.

Afterwards, LRC talked to Jamie Cheever and Kipp jointly. Wejo was talking to Cheever about her not going to Worlds and then Shalaya walked up and filmed both of them. Good sportsmanship by both Americans as you'll see below. Cheever wanted to go to Worlds, but she congratulated Kipp on making it. As for Kipp she waited until the last second to hit the standard but she did it with ease here. Watch how excited she gets when she finds out Jenny Simpson won the 1500m. Simpson had already congraulated Kipp on making Worlds, but didn't tell Kipp she had won the 1500m. Video here:
That girl is a warrior...I'm telling you. One of those that just needs things to come together and look out. Used to see her training all alone at high altitude. Murderous distance in extreme heat at over 7500 feet. Something special about her.
Has she always been a bit thicker than most elite runners? Watching her lead the Pan Am Games steeple she looks it.
My bad...think it was just the camera angle.
