Gabby Anderson--4:01s . . . wow. Great race for the Americans. I hope this bodes well for Rowbury in the 5.
It does bode well for her to get into the final, and if the final becomes tactical .......
Women's steeple...boring...same four chicks in the lead for the whole thing so far.
Pacer dropped. So now its the same three...boring.
Is Kipp on target for the A?

There should be a guy in there with them.
What happened to Moser? That's two out of three Salazar athletes with bad results -- Moser and Rupp.

Yeah, forgot. Mediocre/disappointing result for Centro.
He just has not had a great summer. He may need another race or two to get going. My guess is this peak is not as good as hi s indoor peak. Maybe Al Sal should have had him do the NYC half and build strength.I am rooting for him but I see him fading to 6-8th in the 10000.

If Rupp went through 3000m in 7:46, then he ran the last 2000m in ~ 5:20 ? 7:46 3k time is about 12:57 pace, but then he was averaging 13:20 pace the last 2k. That's good if you're training for the 10k, i guess. Yeah, it's a bummer Rupp didn't move up into the lead group; you never know what could've happened now. He'll probably be in his best 5k shape after worlds.
Nice time by Shalaya Kipp
I agree. I watched the whole race and Rupp was sitting behind Lagat. Lagat was obviously having an off day and a gap opened in front of him but Rupp left it way too long to go past Lagat and by that time it was too late as the gap was too big to close. If he had gone straight past when the gap started to open I think he would have held onto the lead group and probably would have broken 13 minutes. It was a bad tactical error, he should have just had the balls to go straight past Lagat. Having said that he showed some real guts to run on his own for most of the second half of the race and try to close the gap. 13:05 is certainly no disaster and I think he is in better shape than that from what I watched tonight.
He isn't good enough, nor is he in good enough shape, nor does he have the mindset of a champion. It's that simple!
Who does Universal Sports think watches youtube videos of 5000m races:
a) People who won't sit through a 13 minute footrace without clicking over to cat videos.
b) People who sought out a 13:00 race to watch it.

I wouldn't call Rupp's race disappointing. It was about what i hoped on the slower side. In a fast race for his first race since US Nats, i was expecting somewhere from 13:00-13:05, although obviously hoping for more. This was a race buster, and Rupp treated it as one which was smart. Your first race after your 5k/10k nats leading up to worlds should not be an all out balls to the walls PR attempt in a 5k. This was what he needed, now he'll run a decent mile, maybe a 3k, and then do his last preparations for worlds.
Also Centro's race was not bad.....3:33 is a solid time. It's his third fastest ever, and last year he ran his two best times just past the olympics at his peak. Leading up the olympics he looked very beatable, started pulling it together with a 2nd at nats in 3:35, then busted it out at the olympics and beyond. So let's not go acting like his fastest time he's ever run prior to a world/olympic championship is a bad race.....It's not.

Wrong. What you think is that if shes with them and its been a slow race she will win it, if shes with them with 100 to go and its a fast pace she has little chance.
Rupp never seems to blow up, even if he's having an off day the guy still runs 13:05. He'll break the American 5000m at some point, but it'll come when it's least expected. It won't happen with Lagat in the race though...he's the one guy that messes with Rupp's mind!
Actually a pretty good day for Salazar's people. 13:05 for Rupp in his secondary distance; 3:33 for Centrowitz.
As usual, Salazar's runners know when to peak (for the meets that really mean something), and the peaking will be in August in Moscow...not July in Monaco. Unlike coach d, I see this a having been a pretty "on course" day for AlSal's guys. And I don't mind disagreeing with coach d because we all know how accurate he has been (lol).
