Mekhissi just misses out on breaking 8 mintues, but he ran an amazing last circuit. He finished a close second to Kemboi who ran 7:59.03.

Great race and nice push taking the lead. Still grabbed the euro record.
Jagr still has a chance to be the first non-Kenyan to go sub 8!
Mekhissi is (much) stronger than Jager, therefore it´ll be the Algerian who dips first under 8´
Jager won´t get possibilites at Worlds

Non-African. Brahim Boulami (7:55) was Moroccan. He was also caught doping though I think.
Maybe the first clean non-Kenyan. Boulami did it 12 years ago.
That must be Jager in case. I don't trust the French dude.
How great for Mekhissi, because he's such a wonderful decent guy. That was heavy sarcasm.
You realize he said non-Kenyan, not non African.
Morocco and Algeria are both in Africa, just not sub-Saharan Africa. There is this place called North Africa.

That's the point moron. I was pointing out that Jager couldn't be the first non-Kenyan (he could be the first clean non-Kenyan) because Brahim Boulami did it 12 years ago. Reading comprehension, bro.
How about you read before you insult.
Kilarney said non African and pointed out a Morocan. I wasn't referencing you.
I simply hit reply on a message, not his. Guess I should have since you jumped up and took offense
Mekhissi is a total boss and deserves way more credit for this. Accept it or not, 8 flat is one straight class above 8:06.
Finishline action

Mekhissi is very grateful to Kenyans for making him what he is.
He will be the second non Kenyan to ever dip below the 8 minute mark. Great athlete.

the question is, is he on drugs?
Mekhissi- GUILTY
Did he punch the mascot after race? Or smack a teenage girl? I hope he trips over the barrier at Worlds and breaks his leg and gets all his teeth knocked out.
Some things of note after this race:
1. It is quite clear that Kipsele is clearly not going to be on the Kenyan Squad meanwhile Kemboi is getting the automatic bye to worlds.
2. Mekhessi is a very legit runner, basically showing that his last two medals were no fluke. It will be interesting that these two will be fighting eachother.
3. Conselus Kipruto who was absent this afternoon could also potentially mix it up with these two.
4. Who will be the other two Kenyan Athletes? Don't think Koech will be one of them.
5. EVAN, WHERE WERE YOU? Tuning up in that event would not have hurt the progress heading into worlds, but rather giving some great race experience.
Doesn't Koech get a wild card to Moscow?
I'd like the guy to be there to push it hard.
