She desperately needs a pony tail holder and a hairbrush!
Remember her from World Junior Championships, she's quite a talent. She does have very good range. Do you have a link to her post race interview?
Any Kenyan women faster than this at age 18?
Or do we not care?
also today anita hinriksdotter of icelandage 17, date of birth 1-13-96 ran 2:00.49 for 800.
It would be good to see Wilson, Judd, Hinriksdottir and Cain in an 800. Next year at the World Juniors all but Wilson could meet. Where did Anita run her 8? That has got to be her PR.
Judd's terrific, and I ranked her first in the Lionesses of the 800 thread. As I mentioned there, she is especially impressive, not only for her youth, but because:
1) She lives and trains slightly BELOW sea level.
2) She is a full-time student, who just completed her A-level exams.
3) If you watch her videos (I've posted a few from time to time), she almost always has to lead the entire race, pitted against competition too weak to push her.
Incidentally, all of those things can also be said of the even younger Hinriksdottir. Both girls are extraordinary.
Judd said last year the 8 was her favorite and that she was looking forward to running it at the Juniors in 2014. She wants 8 Gold in the Juniors to go with her Silver.
I feel like judd is a favorite to win the 800 in 2014

She's quite tall which might be a handicap for the longer distances. Her 9:00 3k pb was set indoors, though, so there should be some potential there.
Here's an interview from today:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkCI3CtE6GABrits, tell us what you know about her.
I know she was just .05 behind Ajee' Wilson at World Juniors last year and got silver.
2010 2:05.58 at age 15
2011 2:02.70 at age 16
2012 2:00.96 at age 17
2013 1:59.85 at age 18

Is she your Mary Cain or Ajee' Wilson? Seems more like Cain despite her clash last year with Wilson. She's got more a distanced background and seemed to be a real natural in front of the camera, good interview.
I'm working on a race recap. In the meantime, here are some screen shots we have from the race.

I love the free flowing hair. Is that sort of her signature?
Vin is licking his chops over a Cain/Judd match-up next year at Hayward Field in the 800. Would Cain duck it for the 15? Judd ran both in Barcelona. Cain/Judd in both, in just the 8 or will Cain not bother herself with Juniors? Will Salazar risk his reputation putting Cain in the Juniors in 2014? It's going to be in Salazar's backyard.
Jessica Judd a genuinely nice girl who just loves running and will run virtually anything. She's a gutsy athlete who gives every race her all. This race last week in the European Team Championships pretty much sums her up. Runs out hard, brave enough to make the move early and will stick in by shear force of will until the end.

Her lying down exhausted s pretty much showing how much she always puts into a race. It's also noticeable she only completed her A-Level exams a couple of days before ending 3 weeks of exams she wasn't even 100% focused for these races this pats couple of weeks.
A nice interview after that too:

And one after todays DL race:

It's nice to see her name get recognition outside of British knowledgeable T&F fans. Last week her win in the ETCs made her wider known to the more casual fan, now with her DL win it's nice she is getting internationally known among track fans.
In addition Steve Cram did a quick video during the XC season pointing Judd as one of the 5 Britain's to watch out for a breakthrough year. Judd ran a lot of good XCs and appears to love running any and every distance. He thinks the 1500m will eventually be her best distance, I'm not so sure as she is tall (for a female athlete) and strong and IMO perfect for the 800m distance. She doesn't have any sort of kick yet, she is very much the definition of an even paced runner, doesn't yet do negative splits (both laps tend to be even) and she has developed a knack of pacing herself perfectly in the 800m.
I suspect sadly in Moscow the rounds might do her in. As I said she will completely empty the tank in every race and doesn't yet have the long term stamina or the outright speed to comfortably do the heats and have something left for the final. On the other hand she is just as likely to reach the final based on her determination and guts as much as anything.
Oh and she has always run with free flowing hair. Not sure about it being her signature but it's her thing :)
Training week example
» Monday
Every other week with a sprint group: Drill session with Christian Dailly, ex-Scottish footballer with over 60 caps, who is a speed coach at Chelmsford. The drills change from session to session but include a mixture of strength and core work with the usual sprint type drills, accelerations and change-of-pace work.
» Tuesday
Grass or track session. Grass is usually over 700m laps through the winter with between 3-6km in volume, but more varied in the summer with the sessions changing regularly and we still get good speed from the grass in the summer. From time-to-time she will do some long reps, up to 1000m, as she doesn’t do much steady running and this keeps her volume up a bit. Recoveries vary in each session but she will have around 60 seconds for 300m reps and up to three minutes rest for longer reps or when she is tired to allow for a full recovery. We often end a session with a few relay races which the athletes in the group appear to be totally recovered for, however hard they have trained.
» Wednesday
Rest.
» Thursday
Track: maybe 6 or 7x400m or 300m with 100m very slow jog recovery. Clearly the sessions are tinkered with a little to suit the needs at the time. The group tend to do a good warm-up, a mixture of steady running, plus some multi-directional work or dynamic stretch-type activity. The sessions are not complicated though – it is very basic stuff. It is a big group and would be difficult to organise if there was too much complexity.
» Friday
Rest.
» Saturday
Race. Jessica likes to race quite frequently. If she’s not racing, then a hill session or a grass run will be included, depending on the following day. We usually do something both days at the weekend. The hill session is usually 8x300m and isn’t particularly steep.
» Sunday
Hills or 30 to 45 minutes run.

Is she in some way sponsored by Nike? (This was alleged in a Flotrack piece today).

World Juniors are every other even year, Worlds and World Youth every other odd year. Next year World Juniors are the only championships - Judd and Cain will certainly both compete if able.
