I know. Wish he had the standard.
dude is real good
TFNews didn't have him in their top 10 on the form chart. Good for him.
mile PR of 3:54, closes today in 3:55ish. not bad
What 5k mark did he use to get in? He has until 7/20 to get a B? Otherwise Ben True goes?
FUBAR...
What is HIll's 5k Pr?
Team right now is Lagat, Rupp, and True. If Hill gets the B, he bumps True off the team.

He used his time from the US Olympic trials. He's going to have to go to Europe and do some chasing it seems

What's the b standard?
He's got the talent, hopefully he can find the right race.
He'll get it. He was that close to Rupp and Lagat here, and look what their PRs are.

No. This would be like Hill barely losing to Rupp and Lagat in the 1500 and then saying he could run in the neighborhood of 13 flat? Not saying he wont get the standard but in an ACTUAL 5k rupp and lagat are on another level. You cant use this race as a measuring tool.
B standard? Are you guys serious? He barely even broke 15 today.
Rupp ran the 10k a few days ago. Lagat just sat and kicked on a tired rupp.

He dropped a sub 4 mile to finish. Regardless of the slow pace that some serious running. You cant use this race to compare him to Rupp & Lagat but you can look at this race and predict a fast 5k for Hill in the next few weeks. I'll be expecting him to hit the B standard.
He needs to run under 13:20 to get the B...so a ~7 second PR. He did a few 1500s in Europe last summer that were around the 1500m B, so I guess he can get in a similar one to get the 5000m B.
5 more meters and he would have passed Rupp.
I like the guy, but I don't see him getting the B. Even though he placed higher today he was more fit last year when he ran 13:26 and was healthy all year. Quite honestly it is a benefit of the A/B system. True has a much better chance to be competitive at Worlds than Hill does and I hope he is on the team. It certainly is going to be nothing like this race, even in the heats.
That is true. When he ran 7:43 at the Husky Invite, he was on fire, and was fit! However he went to Payton Jordan and only ran 13:33, while guys like Cam Levins had run 7:48, but 13:18, and Tom Farrell 7:52, but 13:15 that season. He's opted to run the 1500m at NCAA's the past 2 years. Even at the end of trials last year when he ran 13:27 and since then, he said he'd be focusing on the 15/mile distance. That was evident when he ran 3:54 at the Millrose Games, but ever since then he has not been as healthy as last year. He's having a hard time juggling the 15/5k, when in my opinion his key distance is the 3k. I think a little bit of his Millrose mile showed in this 5k. Based on a 7:43 he should get the B standard without a problem, but we will see. I say he has an 85% chance at it.
